Default Damn out of state drivers!!!! (Updated with repair pic)

3/25/17. Found a repair shop and they did a great job for $100.

Lived in Florida since 1981. Love the spring time of year except for the visiting drivers that have no clue where they are going. Instead of going up an exit to turn around, this guy cut over two lanes and cut me off to make a right turn. I couldn't stop or he would have broadsided me so I accelerated and avoided him except for smacking the curb. Now rear wheel looks like I took a cheese grater to the edge.

Going to to see if it can be repaired. If it can't be repaired and I cannot find a used oem rim, are the knock offs close enough to match the other wheels?

ugh!!!!!

They're everywhere in Pensacola, locals too. Rarely a driving day goes by that one doesn't try to kill me, usually by failing to yield right of way. Hence why I named my C4 "Target".

Yeah, Damn out of State Drivers. That's what I say when people from Florida come to South Carolina.

I saw a bumper sticker once that said: "When I get old, I'm going up north and drive slow!"

Give me a brake. I just spent 5 weeks in Fort Lauderdale, and yes most Florida drivers are courteous. But I was driven into the grass off I95 at 80 mph by a Fla driver in a van that if i didn't see him coming in the right lane don't know if i would be talking here right now. First time in my life i called highway patrol because of a fool trying to kill people. I was not the only one that he did this too. And yes the state trooper did pull him of the road. So don't be so quick to blame out of state drivers when in state can cause problems too, works both ways.

Hey guys. Bob at House of Wheels has a new one for about $350 shipped. A local wheel repair shop said they can fix it for $100. It rode home fine so I don't think it got bent but I'm looking for advice. Bobs is new but not technically oem as in oem when mine were made and the repair will involve repainting. With all these considerations, what would you do?

Appreciate your thoughts!

Have it repaired and re-painted. If the wheel isn't bent, it will be good as new. I have had a set of AE wheels repainted and they turned out great.

I have a condo on Perdido Key, and I must admit that there are some really bad drivers there. The only time it is safe to drive is November and December!

In Florida you can Text *347 to report an out of control driver. Driving in Florida sucks. I've seen sooooo many accidents from wrinkled people from up north who have no clue at all. Dumb as a stump, in a mad ruch and physically unfit to drive. You can cruise on 75 @ 80mph and there will be fools passing you like you are standing still while texting. Gotta be doing 100+. Law enforcement is so busy tending to accidents they have no time to pull speeders over.

17 Motorcyclists from Sarasota & Pasco County have been killed from numb drivers since Jan 1st. With no citations issued. Old people try and run motorcycles off the road for sport down here. Elected officials fight against intersection camera's. They are afraid they might invade a drivers privacy. WTF.

A young girl drove in to the back of a Transport Vehicle on Rt75 while the Truck was doing 70mph. How fast was she going? Caused a chain reaction and 3 people were killed. The driver of the transport vehicle pulled over and got out of his truck and an old lady hit him and killed him. Scary people out there.

Some day the laws will change and the state of FL will test drivers frequently instead of every decade, enforce drinking and driving and change the fine for texting while driving to $10,000 instead of a slap on the wrist. Half the old people down here can't lift their leg to step on the brake. Watch them walk in Walmart :-o Also, Florida is the #1 state for Uninsured motor vehicle accidents. A dangerous state to drive in for sure.

Damn Floridians!

I do agree with the get-it-fixed scenario. A good wheel shop will make that wheel look like new, and save you some $$.

The snowbirds will be headed back up north in a few weeks and we will be rid of them.

Looks like I'm pulling the wheel tonight to get it repaired. Worth a shot for $100 I guess. Thanks all for the advise!

Damm New York drivers, there all over here in S Florida.
I would get it repaired, and if it doesn't balance out correctly, replace!

I've had a few wheels repaired (here in Phoenix) and the cost was exactly the same as what your guy is charging. They came out great and I never had any issues with any of them. I would get the one repaired first. I don't think you'll regret staying with the original wheel to keep the set intact. I agree also about the snowbirds. There are some pretty horrible drivers that are local as well. Just don't run across them quite as often.

I live near Chicago and when ever there is a major traffic jam on the expressway, when you finally get up to the cause, it's a damn Florida license plate driving 10 under in the fast lane looking straight ahead.

I'd have to challenge that claim that Florida is #1 in uninsured motorists ... you can't believe the number of illegals out of Mexico (and middle eastern countries) driving here that's never driven before - without a DL or insurance. Also we now have a problem of 'fake' temp tags on cars. Texas went to a system where you get car inspected and take cert of inspection to get license plate renewed. If no pass inspection ... no renewal. Well people have figured out how to get around that. There are a TON of used car lots around here owned by minorities... they will by a car that was sold for parts and is totally unsafe to drive and will put a fake temp paper license plate and sell as a 'cash car' to their 'buds'. Now we got all these very unsafe and barely running cars all over the roads without insurance and if they get in a wreck they people will bale never to be seen again leaving with a wrecked are and the bill !!!
