Default Black Chrome tips with NPP ?

Having an NPP, I'm curious as to my options for getting black crhome exhaust tips. i.e. not swapping mufflers.

Ceramic coating is an option, but you'll need to pull off the whole axle-back section to get that done. Otherwise, cutting off and re-welding on new black tips can work.

Or a new axle-back system with black tips. Those are really your options.

Cut em, get them chromed and re-installed.

Or just get these

New tips would probably be easier and cheaper. Plus no down time.

Edit: Check on NPP function with the Corsa tips

Just realized the website says that but I wonder if they just want you to buy the whole kit? I wonder why they wouldn't fit?

Not sure about cutting the tips since I have the valve in the 2 outer pipes. I assume there's a wire powering the actuators / butterfly valves. And then, there's the actuator/butterfly valves....

Did you mean cut them after the valves ?

From this pic, it appears like you might not have to interfere with the AFM/NPP valves. And now I see why the Corsa tips won't work cuz the stock pipes have 2 exits

I have a question. How about the Black Chrome Spray paint system? States good adhesion up to 250F. I have not shot my tips with my IR gun so I don't know if the paint will stand up to the heat. Any comments?

This will work 100% as long as that stuff will really hold up to 250 deg. No way that the tips only will ever get to 250 deg.

No dam way that I would pay close to 600.00 for just a set of tips. Call me cheap if you like & believe me I am not at all. I wouldn't ever pay 600.00 for the exhaust tips in here that is C.F. from the 5,k plus x pipe & cat back. Robert

I'll check out the black chrome paint. From what I see, 'heat' isn't on the list of items protected against so.... there's that.

Cutting the tips seems like way too much effort. From the above picture of the underside, I don't know how complex the procedure is for the C7. i.e. any special considerations.

The fender fish and corvette lettering would likely look good in black chrome. At least it would be different from the carbon flash.

Rustoleum BBQ paint. Google that along with painting exhaust and Rustoleum even has an instructional video. I've seen some impressive results, one guy here did the tips on his C7, he was able go mask and spray paint the tips without removing them from the car.

So the Rustoleum kit specifically lists heat resistance up to 250 degrees. The box even has a pic of exhaust tips on it.

One thing I'm still in the dark on are the perforations in the OEM tips. Obviously, painting them would clog the small holes and I don't know why the holes are there and if closing them up would have any negative consequences.

the dupli color black chrome states for under hood components so must be heat resistent. Let us know how it turns out may give it a try as well
