The factory **** has a button on top to depress before moving the lever. All this adapter does is act as the button. You'll remove the factory ****, slide the adapter on in it's place with a set screw, then screw on **** of your choice. Now you'll push down on the entire **** instead.

Some have had to drill out some of the adapter on the inside to allow it to slide over the existing mount. I did to mine and just needed longer set screws to keep it secure. You'll also need to tie the boot around the lever then drop that collar down to hide it.

OK, So then, I don't need any inner collar? I only need the aluminum barrel as the piece is made? Which means this cannot work without first undoing boot and the neck of the shifter?

You will need to undo the boot to install this, but only at the top neck portion so you can slip the spring and then that long barrel piece over the existing shaft of the shifter. The boot goes back over that to hide it, then top collar. Secure the boot and screw on ****.

OK, i think I understand how it works. The think came with no instructions whatsoever. The down side is that I have to remove the center console again.

I don't recall removing the center console to install this, but it has been a year or so since I did mine. I'm pretty sure it isn't necessary. Maybe someone elese will chime in here or you could search for other people's experiences. That's how I learned how to do mine.

I read the details in the link. BIG QUESTIONS.

1. It says to use the set screws to hold the collar onto the shaft. If I lock the collar onto the shaft, how is the shaft collar suppose to slide up and down as I push down to get out of park???

2. The collar seems to go all the way down, but nothing is pressing onto the actuator which allows you to shift out of park.

Think you need to read it again, more carefully this time.

1. Tighten them up equally front and back until the you feel the shifter kinda start to stick when you push it down and then loosen up the set screw just a hair until the shifter moves freely and will come right back up all on its own after you push it down .

2. Take the spring that came with the kit and place it over the shifter and slide it all the way down until it stops. This is what will pop the shift ball back up to make sure your shifter still locks into gear.

OK, I get item 1. However, regarding item 2. With the collar in position, the rod that disengages shifting does not push in enough to disengage the shifter.

If you tighten the set screws to lock the adapter in place, how can you push down on the shifter to shifter out of park? Is the idea to lock it in the down position? The instructions do not address this. How did you do yours?

Do you have to push down on the T handle to dis-engage from park?

Where did you buy your adapter from?

To sirdano: I really like the B&M T-Handle you have installed.
I already have an adapter kit, but with no collar for the boot.
What is the part# and source for the T-Handle? Is it threaded or did you have to tap it?
Is the collar a standard part?
Thanks in advance for your reply.............

Okay this is the adaptor I bought
VMS Corvette C5 Automatic Auto To Manual Shifter Shift **** Adapter Kit Lever

This is the handle. I think it is discontinued
B&M 80941 Satin Finish Universal T-Handle

Now the handle says it fits our year but clearly it doesnt. I put electrical tape around adaptor then screwed handle on. It holds great and doesnt come off.

Place the adapter on the shaft, and move around till it slides
down. (It will sit on top of the spring) Tighten the two allen set
screws with the allen wrench that is included. The allen screws
tighten on the rod that comes up from the shaft.

The screws mate into the part that is split. They should face the radio in the middle. If the face any other way they will not work
