Considering selling the C5
Back in the early 90s I owned a 68 SS/RS Camaro. In my opinion it is the best looking US made vehicle ever. Life gets in the way and I sold it. I spent the last 24 years regretting that sale. Even when I am cruising in the vette, when a 1st Gen Camaro goes by I stare at it. Well now I have a chance to buy another 68 SS/RS. Its unrestored which gives me the fun of restoring it. I am limited on what I can do with a C5 and I cant get it out of my head that a mere computer failure on these cars (if new computers are no longer available) can cause havoc on the future of its drivability. But there is nothing I cant do with the Camaro in my garage. Its a perfect gearhead car.
The decision isnt final but I'm very close to doing it.
Best looking muscle car ever made.

You only live once and if a Camaro is your dream car, I say go for it. Good luck if you make the jump.

I know what you mean. Back in the early 70s I owned a '69 Camaro SS. Always have regretted selling that car. I have had a '73 vette a '96 vette and now the '04. Still miss the '69 though.

I had a 67' SS/RS in the 90's as well. Every time I think I should of kept it I remember the gas mileage, 3.73 gears and a 4 speed, and that buckboard style ride it delivered with its rear mono leafs, I love everything my C5 delivers, I think I shall keep what I have. The Camaro was cool for sure just doesn't meet my needs today. Mike

Sell the C5! A lot were built. A lot are garage queens - - you can always pick up another one later! I sold my C5 this month to get a C6 - - enjoying the keyless entry & start, heated seats, 2 extra gears (Auto), etc, etc...

I had a 71 Firebird Formula 400 that I loved. But when I think back about the negatives I am content to live in the past about cars I owned. Don't think I would sell my C5 unless it was to be replaced by a very special car. Not sure what that is.
You have to do what makes you happy and as another poster said there are lots of C5's out there if you want to come back. Good luck.

Like others here I owned a 69 SS and also regret selling it. I even saw a couple of days at the track with it. While I'd like to have it back there is no chance I'd replace my C5 with one of those. Listen closely, on a quiet night you can hear it rust.

I would buy the '68 RS/SS, especially since you want to restore it. It's my favorite Camaro too and as others have stated, you can always go back to a C5 later.

You might end up regretting selling the C5 too. Any chance you can afford both?

I miss my '69 Camaro and regret selling it. The upside is i've had the pleasure of enjoying some cars I never would have had I kept it...including my C5. The good news is you're stuck with deciding between two great cars. Trust your gut and have fun either way. Cheers!

There is a gentleman down the block from me who restores nothing but 67 and 68 Camaro's. He does meticulous work, and takes about 6 months to do one car. I've often stopped and talked to him. The cars are beautiful, I agree with you 100% on that!
I would assume your C5 is paid for, why not keep the C5 for something cool and fun to drive while you restore the 68 Camaro? They are so different, I think you would keep enjoying the C5 all along.
I found a 1988 BMW E30 a few years ago with only 9,000 one owner miles on it, an Arizona car that was professionally stored in a heated and air conditioned building until I found it. It was beautiful, like new inside-and-out.
Sadly, I needed a bigger car for a couple reasons, and sold it. I miss it every day.
I say keep your C5, pick up the Camaro, and go to town!

The 67 (you pictured a 67, the 68 had no quarter windows) to 69 are very nice, not my favorite muscle car, but in the top 10 for sure (only with flip up headlights tho). That said, although the top 10 muscle cars are great in some respects, no way I could daily drive one without a complete modernization (suspension, steering, interior, amenities...).
But, if that's the car that tickles your chin hairs, move on and have fun.

My dad has a 69 slammed and set up for road racing.. very cool car. He thought about selling it and his 01 for something else and I talked him out of it. Though it's not my call, do what makes you happy.

I had 69 Carmaro RS/SS hugger orange car that I sold. I had many muscle cars and have had 5 different Corvettes and currently have an 05 C6 that I purchased new. It is hard to bring back old memories of those older cars. It's just not the same when you go back and try to live the experience again. You would be happier with a ZL1 Camaro than a 68 or 69. Cars are kind of like old girlfriends that you got rid of. Most of the time there was a reason why you moved on. Best to go forward and find a brand new ride and not try to bring back the past. It's never the same. I have tried it with cars and motorcycles and have not had good results. Just my 2 cents. Look ahead and get something new, different, and faster.
