I think it would be changing the spark plugs and wires, as my 69 is an A/C car and it also has all the chrome shielding in place.T

any part of the brake system.the fluid is nasty and eats the paint,all fittings seem on the verge of stripping,difficult to get all the air out of the system and one mistake and you could wind up dead.

I haven't done all of the jobs that I need to do yet but so far removing the trailing arms was the worst. Had to cut apart the front bolts and then the disassembly of the bearing carrier from the trailing arms was also tough and fused together with rust.

The original trailing arm removal was the worst job but it's done. I still cant stand working on anything under the dash. Switches, wiring, fuses, brake booster anything under the dash. I've gotten where I just remove the seat on the side that I'm working on. I hate crawling under there.

I think trailing arms and then any heavy suspension work as it's usually dirty and could be dangerous when springs are involved.

I would have to say the worst, for me, would be the brake booster, and the heater core. I broke my back in a sand car about 6 years ago, and it still gives me a little bit of an issue once in a while.


I'm not the best at wiring, so that's a pain to me too, but not as bad. Street Rat, I'm with you, the dash pretty much sucks too!!

I dig a lot of things others hate like i really enjoy wiring things from scratch,

what im gonna name as a job i hate doing isnt because its a hard job, it has emotions attatched and i really doubt it will ever be right,

This is how mike left my interior, promised to have covered it good, hah

I figure the 1/8 to 1/4 inch bondo / fiberglass dust fall out has worked iself into the custom velour enough that backsides will always itch after sitting in here no matter how many times i vacuum it, dust is in gauges, pilied up everywhere,

This is what friends do when you try to help them earn a living.

So yeah cleaning someone elses muck up that hosed me at the same time rates as job i hate the most.

Under or in the dash, I have a 70 and pretty much the wiring in the dash is 5-10 years behind what the design was like in the European cars I've had making the Vette a much bigger PIA to work on.
There are a lot of nuts and bolts on a Vette that you can see easily enough but just try and get a spanner or socket in there to loosen or tighten them!

Hey Bats you need to start another thread on dumb things that people working on your car do. I have to agree that you will always itch when you sit on those seats . Fiberglass is not like regular dust that can be vacuumed and scrubbed . They are little shards of glass that will pierce your skin and stay there and they have a way of clinging to fabrics like your clothes even after being washed. Track him down and do this to him .

I spent an entire summer back in 1980 sandblasting a 69 vette frame a couple inches at a time with a siphon blaster and a small crafstman compressor. Not body off but on my back with the car about two feet off the ground. It turned out nice but what a nightmare. So cleaning chassis laying underneath the car has got to be worst job ever with chemical running down your arms and rust and dirt falling into your eyes. I've done this several times. I now have a rotisserie and am no longer intimidated by pulling bodies off frames. I figured this amount of deliberate self torture set me apart from most and still do. Proved my mettle.

Brakes.... FKN brakes... I hate the damn brakes on a C2/C3....

I'd rather pull the dash then swap brake calipers and deal with the black magic of bleeding the brake system.

Jack up the car and slide under the RH side, all 4 plugs and shielding are very easy to access.
