Default Polishing my alternator

I have a stock alternator that is clean, but a dull grey. Is there any polish I can use to kind of spruce it up a little. I don't want it to look like chrome, just fresh and clean...any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Keeping small bits of steel wool out of the alternator would be tricky. Perhaps a 3M pad would be safer. I used bright silver paint applied with a brush and it looks great.

Physically: Wire brush in a drill. Remove the alternator and work to have the grain go the same direction and it could be okay.

Chemically: $25 with shipping: http://www.eastwood.com/ew-aluminum-...N1YaAkf-8P8HAQ

Using some coarse steel wool, or a Scotchbrite pad, would be fine. Just blow it out with compressed afterwards to get all the grit out.
