Remote start in 2017 manual?
Please forgive me for even asking..I'm 99% sure it's not available but I want to be positive.
I'm about to buy a z51 2LT manual.
I'm gone for periods of time and would love to be able to start it remotely..I'm assuming OnStar.
Thanks!

The manual doesn't have remote start.

No, remote start isn't available on manual transmission vehicles

It's a safety issue, first time you left it in gear you would need to replace the wall to your garage.

yeah..just like the brake needs to be depressed when starting the automatic. Wishful thinking but I was hoping if it was in neutral with the parking brake engaged, it could happen.

A C7 can easily sit for a month with no issues. You can also get a battery maintainer and plug it into the lighter receptacle in the cargo area. Note the receptacle in the console is not hot at all times. Therefore, you can not charge through it.

Long before most people knew about remote starters i used to build my own out of 12 bosch relays and a wireless transmitter. I installed several on stick shifts including my own 3000GTi install a sensor in the shifter that would disable the starter if the car was in gear it certainly can be done but i understand why they dont offer it. If there is a way to do something stupid people will find a way them blame others for their own stupidity!

An idling car is not going to charge your battery. If anything, it's going to deplete it more, unless you're idling for very long periods, which is not good for all kinds of other reasons.

There's a company called Compustar that says they have a remote starter compatible with a manual vette if you're really motivated to do this. I don't know anything about them, this was posted on another car board I'm on.

This is not true. Normal battery voltage is around 12.6v. Any time the engine is running and the alternator is working properly, charging system voltage is somewhere 13.5-14.5v average. Therefore, charging the battery. RPM usually has very little effect on voltage output from the alternator.

You misunderstood my post.
The battery power used to start the car will take a lot of idling to make up for. Of course, the alternator is working at idle, but how long do want to leave your car idling? Long idle times are not desirable.

In the nineties I had a car (manual) and the previous owner installed auto start which fooled the clutch pedal into thinking it was engaged.
I rarely used it. One day a friend wanted to see it work. I thought the car was in neutral (it wasn't) and the car lurched forward a few feet before stalling out. Thank god I had the parking brake on - and the car only had 140hp.
I acknowledge that I was fully at fault in this scenario but it was a scary situation.

There are aftermarket remote start products out there for manual cars as mentioned earlier. Anything is possible with money

Corvettes are normally kept in garages, are they not? I suppose there are a few people compelled to store them outside, but it's not normal. So why would you want to remote start your car while it is in the garage? The only good reason would be to gas the cats while you're gone with a dose of carbon monoxide. No mess clean up and you would save on kibbles.
