Feedback on this louvered hood
I'm looking for a louvered hood to get my road course oil and water temps down, HCI and DeWitts radiator with IOC and ITC.
Has anyone had experience with this one:
I am not concerned with weight saving and I would have the hood painted JSB to match my 09Z, but I'd like reasonable fit and finish and stand up to using stock hardware, no hood pins.

another way to do it cheaply is get a used stock hood and do your own louvers. I got one for $200 in my color so no cost to repaint. I'll take off my original hood and put away. I haven't yet decided what kind of louvers I'll be putting in it so no pix.

FYI...that's my hood with the additional two hood louvers in it.

Are you satisfied with the fit and finish? Did it aide cooling on a road course? Some advertise a 20* drop in water/oil temp with a vented hood. That would get me into a very happy cooling range of 225* water and 270* oil.

I got a good drop with the oil cooler I insatlled it definitely kept things cooler, but the headers were cooking underneath my car.. vented hood has to help.

I can't remember my absolute oil and water temps when I tracked last time at Indie Motorsport but the version of my hood did assist in keeping the underhood temps down...I never had to come off the track for cooling issues.
Here's the link to the hood you are interested in, as it's sold by the CF vendor I purchased from. http://corvettecreationz.com/store/i...&product_id=51
You'll see they actually use my car in their advertisements http://corvettecreationz.com/store/i...te=common/home

I have seem cars with the Camero ducts. You can also find tons of ducts at race shops exc. that would let you start with a hood you are happy with. Distilled water and water wetter help also. Worry about cooling brakes also.

I think it looks good Dave. I'm curious if it brings your temps down to where you want them. Are you still planning to plumb in a supplemental EOC, or try this first?

I'd like to avoid the complexity of an additional oil cooler so a reasonable vented hook that can be painted would be my first choice. I don't want it to fit like crap, but it doesn't have to be absolutely flawless, my car has hit too many birds and had rock chips for that.

The Trackspec hood vents that you cut the hood and install yourself can also be a good option. The install looks a bit intimidating at first but is actually really easy. I picked up a cheap used OEM hood so I didn't have to cut up my original one.
I didn't see a 20 degree drop in temps but more like 5-10. I'm also running in the hot SoCal desert tracks.

Dave,
I run ACP CF hoods on both C5 and C6 vettes.
Did not see a 20+ drop in temps, more like 10+
Since I have separate oil coolers, the temp drop was on the coolant.
All the vented hoods are generally similar.
Fit will vary greatly. Will the hood bolt directly to your stock hinges?
Where is this hood manufactured?
Aside from the company having a CA address, can't find any information about them. Appears they sell only through Amazon. Do not have their own website.

Just a couple other things to consider to get your temps down; switch to larger radiator and change your coolant mixture to 70% distilled water and 30% coolant. I usually add a bottle of Redline water wetter or Royal Purple Purple Ice.

Already running the DeWitts radiator with IOC and ITC. Coolant probably is closer to 50-50, but I do drive in temps down to 20*. I'll try adding some water wetter. HCIE, last run on a short track had oil at 290* (Amsoil Z-Rod 10W30 at that time) and water at 245* on 100* morning. Advanced driver.

Something else to consider Dave regarding CC hood.... I ran one for awhile on my C5Z.. It looked great, fitment was "okay" but when it came down to high speed 1/2 mi roll racing it didn't fare very well. I am sure you don't reach 160 on the road course... Just thought I would share my experience. I am following this thread to see the final product. Please keep it going.
Ended up removing it altogether that day...

There are a couple of circuits where I would hit at least high 150's, I run 90 mile in the SilverState at 150 class (I have 600+ miles at 150 or more) and did the HCI work to go back to Mojave and break 200. I was 167 in 1/2 mile roll races, so I would not want to be swapping hoods all the time.
