A6 steering wheel trim piece, shift **** trim piece removal?
I have an 06 A6 steering wheel (paddle shifters) without radio controls How do you remove the 2 pieces of trim on the left and right spokes in front of the paddles? Are they in with a clip and just pop off?
The same for the center trim piece on the shift ****. Clipped and just pop off? I don't want to force anything and break them.

If I recall
wheel:
1-disconnect battery
2-about a 1/16 punch or something to press in spring retainers on each side of steering column at wheel (see little holes).. to release the airbag
3-covers have one screw each under airbag
shifter:
gently pry off cap. It snaps in.

Shifter- That's what I thought.
Steering wheel trim- Either this is way more complicated than it looks or you misinterpreted. I am not looking to remove the steering wheel. Just the 2 plastic pieces that sit in the spokes of the wheel in front of the shift paddles (mine are silver on my black wheel).

No, his instructions were correct. Each of the small trim pieces has a single screw holding it onto the wheel. Unfortunately, the screws are under the airbag, so you must remove the airbag (not the wheel). The airbag is held on by two clips that you use a small punch/screwdriver/etc to release from the backside of the wheel.

I'm referencing the hydrocarbon spokes above in my reply....
Interesting.. I'm pretty sure you guys are wrong on this. For removal of those gray covers you just pull.
Mine just pulled off and had some factory double sided tape like substance under them.

Melting Slicks
If you are looking at the 2012+ wheel, the bezels are attached with some kind of glue or silicone and peal off.
Prior years were screwed on under the airbag cover.

OP said 06 .............I have removed them before to wrap them.
YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE AIRBAG TO GAIN ACCESS TO A SCREW THAT HOLDS THE SPOKE COVER ON. 06-11 should be the same.

That's how mine were. The bezels pulled off. If you have to pull the airbag off for pre-2012s, at least it's only a 5-10 min procedure
