Deciding to sell c6 z06 for GS
Hey guys how's it going. I'm really up in the air on selling my c6 z06 and taking my dads grandsport to boost it. Only thing that's stopping me is the GS is automatic (6L80) transmission. If I keep the grand sport I'll do heads, cam, full exhaust and slap a blower on it. If I keep my car I'll continue to do a N/A build. What are your guys thoughts on this? Need inputs?!! Z06 is a 2007 and grandsport is a 2010

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
Since you've asked, I'd keep the ZO6.

I couldn't handle the automatic, but I also don't like the idea of a corvette with a fixed roof.
I guess if you can have the 2010 for free, and get to sell your Z06 to bank that money it could be worth it.
I wouldn't go dumping it all on mods like you are planning to do, but It sure would be tempting.

If you like the feeling of driving stick, stick with your Z06 and keep going with your N/A build. These cars have a lot of potential and you already have a widebody car so enjoy your 6 speed! It's tempting to get the newer car with more options though, I understand that.

Personally I would go with the GS - newer, better equipped, removable top, MSRC (F55), along with wide body handling.
I grew up with 4 speeds - drove them for 40 years. In 2008, just prior to my C6 purchase, I test drove a C6 with Paddle Shifts, and I really got to like it. It's a change to be sure, but I use the rev matching 6l80 and now I would never go back to a manual. Partly because I'm 68, but more so I just love the technology.
Since you are asking for opinions, I would also leave the GS bone stock. It's still a low 12's plenty quick car. IMHO resale value would be higher if stock, and I do prefer n/a engines.
Of course the power level of the Z06 is awesome and addictive. Have you driven the GS? In the end, you may find the difference in power may make up your mind.
My buddy has an '08 Z06 - murderously quick. He used to track it. Now he drives the streets just like me. He can't utilize the power legally. He is planning to buy an automatic C7 GS.
Either way you end up with an amazing ride.
Let us know what you decide.

All depends on what you want to do. I have had both. I have 3 complaints with the GS is that it does not handle as good as the Z06 did, I hate the gear ratios in the trans (you wont have that issue) and the roof, oh the roof, it will not shut the f#ck up. It always creaks. Otherwise it is a FAR better car. Do not discount the automatic, I have a friend that has one with a small blower, cam and stall and he runs a consistent mid 9 second 1/4 mile and pulls real good on the highway. He is running the ECS1500 tuner kit on his car. I plan to run the same blower on my car.
2007 2LZ Z06 600+ RWHP NA car was a blast to drive but reliably this was about a fast as it was going to go without spraying or boosting it. I built a "max effort" NA setup that worked very well.
Current 2012 Centinnial GS 3LT M6 cartotally stock other than Katec valve covers and lowered

Keep the Z06 or Sell it and buy a GS with a stick! I know I will not be as happy as I would be with a 6 speed manual! That just me and my 2¢. Good luck!

I use the cars for highway pulls only don't go to the track and don't really plan on it. If I kept the z06 I would try and do a build exactly how your Z was I've read a lot about it and you made some good numbers! Want some people with a auto grandsport and set up like I want to chim in on this, I want to know how the 6l80 holds up. I know a lot of people said it can't handle the power very good.
I feel like I would would miss the manual sometimes that's what stops me from just pulling the trigger!
Did you and your buddy ever get any runs in with your Z and his gs?

I would do the GS, tune it in for ~650rwhp and enjoy an awesome car.

Yeah I know exactly what your talking about with the top did it with my old base and my dads car. There's an easy fix with some seals you can put where the open and close flaps are and it takes it away.

Can you keep both? Leave the GS stock and loose less when you're done with it. No law says you can't have two C6's.

Yes we can keep both, my dad doesn't drive his car at all. It sounds been sitting under the car cover for about 3 months now that's why I was thinking of taking it. There's not one flaw to it! It's a awesome car.
