Default Corvette SUV

I don't know if it's an early April Fools Day joke or not, but in the last couple of days I've seen news items saying that GM are considering building a Corvette SUV.
Basically it looks like your usual SUV with C7 tail lights, but I wonder how it will handle if it comes with the 650 hp engine.

It sounds like GM wants to sell SUVs using the Corvette name to me but whatever. They should just throw the Corvette motor in there and call it something else.

midsize or sports size SUV or whatever the hell they are called are the new hot item. Outselling all other car types by a lot

But please GM, don't do it. Through in a turbo charged Solstice engine or something..

Yeah, I saw the thread about it over in OT. I really don't think it'll happen but who knows?

I think a sedan would make more sense platform wise, but a Crossover would definitely sell more.

Turning Corvette into a brand is a risky move that has been rumored for a long time. GM has learned that Cadillac can't pull the high end buyers the Germans can, so maybe they're thinking that Corvette can?

You have to keep in mind that GM does not make cars, they make money, money for their investors. The last "car guy" at GM was Bob Lutz. He fostered the Solstace/Skye. Both were well received and pretty decent cars. They did exactly what they were supposed to do as cars but the $$$ just weren't there wand they died off when Bob left(same story with the Fiero). While it could be relatively inexpensive to design and build GM has to consider what it would do for Cadillac, GMC and Chevy large SUV sales. All 3 are insanely profitable. The investors like that. My vote is that it isn't going to happen.

Agreed on most parts, but a Corvette branded suv would have no effect on large suv sales. GM hasn't competed in the sporty suv segment since the Trailblazer SS. They tried to call the srx sporty and failed. Same with its replacement. Same for all Caddy really.

A corvette branded smaller suv could generate sales that would be going to the bmw, mercedes amg, jeep srt8, porsche macan, etc.
