Raise the ride height ?

Raise the ride height ?
Somewhere lately, I read something about raising the front end ride height on a C6, and it was described as "easily done' by cranking a bolt?..........
Is this factual?...............If so, does it affect alignment, and how is it done?
I could use a little more clearance on my 2010 GS.........
Thanks,
Tom

Yes, alignment should be checked!
Google it and you will more than enough info both on the forum and youtube.
Four lowering bolts...in this case, raising bolts.

Depends. It can be easy or it can be a pain the the rear. I went the other direction and tried to lower my 09 and found out that the bolts were rusted and completely seized up. No lube in the world was able to loosen the death grip on those bolts. 36k miles. Good luck with yours

Hmm, I would like to raise the ride height of mine too, I scrape the valance going over bumps at highway speed - which tells me somebody must already have lowered this car. I can't imagine a stock car scraping the ground.
For those who had rusty bolts.. did you end up replacing them or did you just give up and leave the bad bolts in and stop tinkering?

My '13 was lowered when I got it, raising it back to original height was the best thing I've done.

I had to drop the control arms to have enough room to apply more torque. Unfortunately, the bolt did not break loose, but the entire sleeve did (female threaded insert). I ended up buying a set of Z51 from a local CF member as he converted to coilovers. His car is a year older than mine with about 10K miles more, but didn't have the same problem. Although the lowering bolts on the Z51 I purchased came off with ease, the new Eibach lowering bolts would not go in. I ended up trimming off some of polyurethane from the stock bolt and dropped it about an inch in the rear. I have 20's in the rear, so there was a bigger gap than factory 19's, therefore, it needed to be lowered. I have yet to start on the front.

WADR you need to learn "advanced search" in the red bar above, using key words, and limiting them to C6 Gen and Tech. Member "Vet" has done extensive threads/posts on the topic (even tho he's been gone for several years), as has "Gearhead Jim" who is not gone and still contributes. Here's a couple, and an advanced search I did:
1. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...clearance.html
2. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...m-factory.html
3. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ed-it-and.html
4. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...de-height.html
5. The general advanced search for the topic using key words, https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...rchid=62422506
If you do an advanced search on just those two posters in the member names section, you'll find a wealth of threads they've started to improve/test your car. Both have been heavy contributors to the general knowledge base.

I live in an area with big speed bumps so something had to be done.
Did research as noted here by others input. In my case I removed the front tire and had the car jacked up enough to put a bottle jack with piece of wood right under the end of the fiber glass spring. This will take off the stress on the bolt. Use a good box end wrench so you do not strip the bolt head. Clock wise turns will raise the car. Make sure you count the threads on each side and then recheck when you are done. I believe I moved the bolt approx. 3/8 of inch which resulted in front moving up about 3/4 inch.
Let the car settle in for a few drives and then have the alignment done. PS: My show also measured my adjusted height to ensure it was equal on both sides.
Hope this helpful.

Scraping
I have to come into my driveway on an angle just to get over the curb and I'd love have about an inch more clearance. I know the low profile looks good, but the roads aren't in the best shape here where I live and I'm constantly worrying about scraping my front end. The GS looks great, but being so low in the front can cause problems. I can't imagine lowering mine and trying to drive around my area. It's tough for me at the stock height.

I ended up replacing both of my springs after I bent a wrench trying to break the bolts loose, then the speed shop I took the car to so they could attempt to lower it bent their wrench too. $1500 later I had a pair of new Z51 springs and a lowered car.

An even bigger concern would be the radiator supports and I had a few scrapes on those as well.
PS: Spray the bolts with something like liquid wrench a few times a day before trying to turn them.

I did not know it was lowered when I bought it. Internet purchase 2400 miles away. Once I got it home I started checking and found the ride height was more than 2 inches lower in the front, not so much in the rear. Someone else posted this, I used the wheel well numbers to get it back to stock and realigned but how I have a ride height tool.
