What kind of a dumbass ships a spoiler like this...

That's pathetic. They should make the person who packed it pay for the replacement.

Mine was shipped in the same box but the stryofoam was on both ends of the spoiler and the rest was wrapped in bubble wrap. Couldn't move if it wanted it to. Got mine from the chevy dealer in Henderson , Nv.

I purchased a splitter for my C6 Z06 from a forum GM dealer. They wrapped it in bubble wrap and slapped a shipping label on it; no box. Of course it arrived damaged. I called them to get it replaced and told them to box the next one. They did. Except the box was shorter than the splitter, so they folded the splitter so it would fit in the box.
I told them to credit my CC and I went with another forum dealer who made a special box that would hold the splitter without it arriving damaged. Splitter was in bubble wrap and placed in a large box.

GM...................a few years back when GM emerged from bankruptcy they shipped my Z06 trunk panel to a local body shop (extremely reputable body shop where local car dealer sent their difficult jobs to) in a cardboard box thinner than the one in your picture , without any packing whatsoever---I mean nothing. So, of course the panel was broken on the ends and the body shop refused to accept it.
2nd panel was ordered. Same exact thing happened---shipped in a flimsy cardboard box with no packing material at all. And we got the same result. Now the local dealer and the body shop are on the phone with a manager in the Detroit warehouse as they are picking the 3rd panel--- the Detroit manager confirmed it was fine when leaving the warehouse (manager did not want to believe the other panels were damaged during shipping).
You guessed it---3rd one also shipped in the same thin cardboard box without any packing material. And surprise, surprise, the 3rd panel was also damaged. Notably, Detroit refused to ship the 2nd or 3rd pieces overnight---customer service????
I forget how it ended--whether a 4th piece had to be shipped or whether the body shop made do with the 3rd one. He did however, show me how other car manufacturers sent it body parts----some in light wooden box frames all tightly packed; others in very thick cardboard boxes, and again all tightly packed it the box with all kinds of protection----not GM.

GM has shitty packaging to begin with.
My Z06 grille packaging was a joke, I was amazed it came flawless.

Wheels from CalChrome Wheels set a new standard of excellence. They actually design boxes and foam for it. Beautiful.

Got mine in the same box, styrofoam also broken however it was wrapped in bubble wrap by the forum vendor I ordered from. Mine did buff out after 20 minutes and was then flawless. Any part I've ordered from GM is questionable at best.

Wow that is crazy. What kind of people are working in the shipping department?!

I wonder if that was a return? Maybe someone bought it and was too lazy to properly wrap it when they returned it? Someone screwed up for sure.

I cringe when opening up anything... It might just be me, but often the items are damaged or missing pieces.

This is how they're boxed straight from GM. Looks like the parts department never inspected this before shipping it out..
The styrofoam which is clearly broken is supposed to hold the spoiler in place. But the styrofoam is broken every time one gets to our store - and GM ships direct to us.
We open ALL and inspect, and then wrap the spoiler and stuff the box full of bubble wrap, because the box is also quite flimsy.

You guys would be surprised of the paint quality. I haven't received any painted parts straight out of the GM box that I would put on my own vehicle. I wouldn't doubt if that scratch was there from the very beginning.
If you pull most of the GM painted items out of the box and put into direct light you'd probably have heart failure. Although, these spoilers, or really any at all, are terrible.

There are certain car parts that I would never buy because of the shipping nightmare possibilities...#1 is removable top ..unless the seller hand delivers it to my house...yup, that's exactly what I did on an exposed carbon fiber top. For OEM parts, it should be a no-brainer, however, this proves the situation is even worse. Packaging Engineers are few and far between, and are the last folks consulted when the accountants determine how cheaply they can get by with flimsy packaging.
