Vettes at Waterside: Beachcombers Corvette Club is working again with Michelle from Relay for Life as the beneficiary of the event and ALL net proceeds from the event will go to the American Cancer Society through their Relay for Life program. We are trying to keep the spirit of this event in tact, a FUN DAY for Vette owners to gather, meet, and socialize in the Corvette Forum VA Ratpack tradition of fellowship.
Friday Social: Rick Williams has again arranged to the Portsmouth Holiday Inn to be the host hotel; they have been great in years past. Beachcombers will host a Friday Social again this year and we’ll get as many folks as possible to go to dinner Friday night. All those details to follow but go ahead and plan for it!
As this event has grown so has it’s visibly with City officials and the effort to make this event happen. We learned a few things last year and will try them out this year.
- All participants will receive a dash plaque this year
- We will have limited Sponsor’s Choice Trophies, no participants’ choice ballots this year. Thanks to Rick Hendricks Colonial Chevy for the trophies!!!
- You will be mailed a Dash Sheet once your registration is recieved. To get your Vette into the event, just place the dash sheet in your windshield for admittance you will receive your a dash plaque upon arrival.
- Event Fee will be $25 this year (to cover additional cost for use of the property that had been waived in the past) We will also be charged more for the additional space if it becomes available. If not the extra $5 will go to Relay for Life.
- We got approval from the City of Norfolk to increase the car count to 150 this year !!!!!!
-As in the past we are VERY restricted on how we park the cars. PLEASE co-operate with the VOLUNTEER Vette owners that will be parking you.

We have to use every inch of the area we have and fill it from the back to the front. We've had folks get upset because they did not want to park in "the back" when they go there early.
They felt since they were early they could "choose" where they park, just not possible given the rules we are forced to follow.
Basically just need folks to accept where they are parked and know all volunteers are working to meet the city's requirements for fire lanes and number of cars we are allowed to have on the property.
If you want to park together with a group, arrive together and we'll do all we can to keep you together, sometimes, due to the space, we may even have to split up those that come in together.
Just remember, we're all RatPackers for the day and even those volunteering to do parking duty are fellow Vette owners and RatPAckers, lets just all treat each other that way

Drifting
Brian, Joe and anyone else interested, do we want to meet some where near Waterside and then go in together so we can all park together?

Tony is right, there were some people get a little "huffy" last year for not being able to park where they wanted....but I got there about 9:20 and think I got an AWESOME spot. About halfway down the backside of the building on the water side.

You're welcome to come early an assist with parking again this year!
Parking at this event takes a lot of patience on the part of the drivers and even more patience by our "Volunteers". But in the end, everyone gets a spot and it all makes for a good day!

Heck winning stuff is fun and feels good, but my Vert is a daily driver, just do it for the fun...plus knowing I was able to help someone else out feels even better.
