Barn Finds
We all hear the stories of the Corvette barn finds. Well I was told a couple weeks ago about two Vettes that had been parked for several years that might possibly be for sale. I was finally able to get a chance to see the cars tonight. We went to a home that was down a long gravel driveway. An older gentleman greeted us and took us to see the cars. He took us to a nice garage first and in the first bay this is what I saw.
It is a 1979 with 126,000 miles on the odometer. It has a 350 crate engine and a new turbo 350 transmission with less than 10,000 miles on it. The car has been sitting on the lift for 9 years. The owner tells me that the only mechanical issue he is aware of is a crack in a lower control arm. It needs a good cleaning obviously but the car looks to be very complete and it would make a good driver car with just a little work. Here are some more pictures of the car.
Then he took me to see the second car. Truly in a barn was a black 1984. This car has been parked since 1997. The owner has started the car and tells me it needs a fuel pump, which he is going to install for me. The car appears to have been repainted black from an original blue. Due to it's being stored in a less than ideal area it will require a bit more clean up but I think this car can also be a good driver with very minimal work and expense.
So I will soon be the owner of a C3, C4, and a C5.

Wow, that hardly qualifies as a barn, but ok...
Did you get the cars as a pair for under $3k
Looks like a lot of work ahead of you Wonder how long the glass had sat in the console of the C4
Congrats on becoming a multi-Corvette owner

While the red one isn't in a barn the black one sure is, it is tucked away in a corner under a dusty cover.
Just slightly over that number.
I think the 1979 will come together quickly, the 1984 will take a little more time.

Congratulations and welcome to the world of Old Vette ownership! Would like to see that C3 running soon. The C4 has some work ahead of it. Will the license ABARNCAR fit on a VA tag for the '79?
