NC Corvette speciality license plate
I am planning on moving to NC in a few years and was researching if there is a Corvette specialty license plate. Well there currently is not one but there is legislation approval if they get 300 applications.
Do you think there is enough support (300+) to get NC a Corvette plate?
I headed up the effort for our club here in Pa and we were granted a specialty plate.
Who there wants to spear head the effort?
Here is the description of the plate. It is type 32
32) Corvette Club. – Issuable to the registered owner of a motor vehicle. The plate shall bear the flags logo of the Chevrolet Corvette. The Division may not issue the plate authorized by this subdivision unless it receives at least 300 applications for the plate.
Maybe the organization who heads the effort can submit the design for approval.
Here is the link.

Here is Idaho's Corvette License Plate.

Here is our Club plate in PA

I would design a universial plate lihe Idaho to get as many Corvette owners interested as possible. They need 300 applications.I would think there should be more then enough that would want one. The problem would be getting the word out. That is why I thought I would try to spark some interest here.
I would gladly head up the effort but I don't live there yet. I was hopping that it would be avaliable when I move in a few years.

Greg, why are you moving in a few more years? Also, I think a problem you might have with something like the Idaho plate is that the older generations won't appreciate it. I would rather go with my classic NC plate (1975 plate) than one with a C6 logo. That may be just my opinion, but I got a feeling every generation is going to be biased towards their own logo.

Since NC currently has only one plate for display and so mnay owners have personalized or specialty plates supporting varying causes, schools, events and organizations, I don't see much support for a specialty plate just for Corvettes. But good luck with your effort.
Why wait for a few years before coming to NC?

I would think Corvette owners would support a Corvette plate. It already passed the Legislation. Just need 300 applicants. Look at their web site and see some of the obscure plates.
By the way you can personalize the specialty plates also!

I am sure owners of every generation Corvette would rather have their flags but any Corvette plate ie better then none. The most logical is the newest or the first.
I am thinking of an American flag faded in the background with a Corvette flag on the left side with Corvette heartbeat of America.
I'll work up an example and post later this weekend.

That is already on the works, The Twin Rivers Corvette Club of New Bern, NC started collecting names.
But they can sure use some help rounding up 300 Corvette Owners

Or you can do what I have done. I moved from PA to NC 3 yrs ago but still have my vette titled in PA. I have a PA classic car tag that never expires. Someday I'll get around to registering the vette in NC

Lots of ppl in my club in Raleigh dont really care, as many of have specialty plates already and dont want to give those up.

I like the idea, but I wouldn't give up my existing personalized plate for it. I suspect that's the catch for a lot of vette owners; they already have something on their car that they wish to keep.

But as with most personalized plates the meaning is lost to most. That is why I like the specialty plate idea. I think there would be enough support if there was a design available to see and there was enough publicity.
