"I wanted to do something that stood out and would be not only self-rewarding but would benefit others," Todd said.

In February, Todd began exploring his options. He said he knew he wanted to do something that benefited the American Cancer Society because it would inspire other people to get involved.

Within a week of the inception of his project, Todd had made contacts with such companies as Pepsi Co., Cotton Eyed Joe, Q93, Strike & Spare Family Bowl, Flemming's Steakhouse, Take Out Thyme and the YMCA.

"Personally, I love cars. And I wanted the event to be different.

Thus, Todd embarked on plans to create the Charity Car Show. With more than 200 cars expected to be there, the event has attracted the attention of Q93 radio station and of a lot of local teens.

The event, which will be held at 9245 Fox Lonas Road from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 2, will also include face painting, miniature bowling, corn hole, trophies, live music, as well as a DJ, in addition to the plethora of cars and awards.

In addition to benefiting the American Cancer Society, the Charity Car Show will also accept donations in loving memory of Kara Schepens, who was killed in a car accident on Feb. 24.

However, as Todd stressed, this event cannot happen on his hard work alone. He encourages anybody who can make it to come and enjoy the day, and also to remember that participating helps support a great charity and a local family.

To see how one teen's idea can make a difference in the world, be sure to check out the Charity Car Show at Knoxville Catholic High School on April 2. Tickets are $3 per person, with children under 5 admitted for free.
