Absolutely agree for service (plus I like Criswell also). For sales, I wouldn't even waist my time talking to Koons.

Katie's C&C a great event, an amazing number and variety of cool cars. Expect to see C1-C6 represented. It can get crowded but that's part of the fun.

Cheers,
JB

Come by and see our shop. If you come over RT 15, we're about 45 minutes. We cover everything from regular maintenance to full motor swaps. Oh, we also do drivetrain.

Just wanted to put up another post for Tony's Corvette Shop. Absolute garbage work and overpriced. Stay VERY far away.

Rick I see you are active... reply here if you can, Try To call you this afternoon if it may be a fit. I'm an hour away in Virginia... fairly close to Corvette Specialists. Unfortunately my 99 FRC is leaking oil... 93k miles. no power loss or rough running.

the car is lowered so I can't begin to get underneath it. looking for someone with the time, interest, experience to take a look and tell me the good news.

for sure on a budget... I'm not a rich man. if it's a simple repair for the oil leak will do that after we've talked about making it faster. is getting the engine right beats up the budget so be it.

rRick, omething you have the time and interest to tackle? any other recommendatios or takers out there?

Thanks Gang!

Default tony's corvette repair SUCKS

I agree whole heartedly. This guy was an accountant turned corvette owner vampire over charging everybody on a daily basis for very mediocre work.

My C4 was butchered and a lot of chrome parts just disappeared after a 5 month stay which culminated in a farmed out job to AAMCO transmissions out of all places. Like I couldn't have done that myself.

His angry arrogant mechanic almost made me wanna deck his dumb ***. I grit my teeth and paid his over inflated bill and swore that I would indeed turn my own wrenches if I had to.

STAY AWAY from tony's folks.

The lead mechanic, Gene, from Corvette Specialist now works at Mr. Tire on Backlick Road in Springfield VA. I go there for non warranty work.

After scraping over hump in a parking garage last Friday, I now have a boost leak.

Any updates on performance shops in the area?

I'm going to give Rick a call, but I'm curios to see if there's anyone closer.

Also, does anyone know where Joe Malo went after leaving Koons?

Last I heard, Malo moved south to FLA...A new local guy in Chantilly is getting alot of good press and lots of business since Coopers closed their doors...Reply and I will pass him on to you..

A few updates based on my own experiences.

Coopers Corvettes closed their service department. They moved over by the PW county dump to an industrial park, and still have their sales division. Tom McGrath now manages Koons Auto in Fredericksburg and his son is out of the industry.

Joe Malo had been gone from Koons Chevy of Tysons for years. He had gone to work at a highland dealer in Tysons, Jag, I think, but was looking to move south.

For tires, there's a shop in Bailey's x'roads called Skyline Automotive. They invented a BUNCH of money on new equipment, and have the latest Hunter tire equipment, including the "touchless" mounting system. They did a pair of 20" Corvette wheels for me, no problem. They were fairly priced, too.

I hope this info is of help/use.
