Saturday cruise....SEPT. 8.....


Weather Channel is forecasting a 50% chance of rain for the Tennessee area that we will be visiting. Our local TV channels are forecasting rain for the Atlanta area. I want to give everyone a chance to make plans for the weekend so I think we should postpone our day trip until we have better weather.
It won't be as much fun with the wipers on and driving wet slippery mountain roads. We can't control Mother Nature, and if she decides to make this weekend a dry one after we've called it off....well, that's how life is. Roll with the punches. We will try again in a couple of weeks to let some of this
hurricane weather get past us. Thanks, and we'll see ya later!

wouldn't mind something like that, but we can't commit as i need to make sure 0% chance of rain to use my car
the wife would use her vette though

Don, it's a pretty fair drive from Huntsville. You could come Chattanooga, I-75 N to Cleveland, Hwy 64 E to Copperhill and pick us up there. I'm thinking of driving to Tellico, crossing to Etowah for lunch, and then back along the Hiwassee to the Ocoee where you could branch off back home. Thanks!

P.S I'm in Atlanta and Murfreesboro is out of sight for a Friday, but it sounds like it would FUN!

Thanks for the heads up on this in another post. I think I would be very interested in this. Do I need to be a member of the Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta to go? I don't mind joining the club but the monthly meeting place (or the time) is not easy for me to accommodate.

I'll check on it. (Tail of the Dragon) I don't know if it's members only or not. I can't make the monthly meetings either. About a 30+ mile one way for me. If it turns out to be members only we might get a few friends together and do a day drive. I'll keep you posted.

We're talking about two different events and it's going to get confusing. Right now, consider a mountain drive/lunch from I-575 Atlanta to Tennessee for
Sept. 8......shine only....if it rains we'll postpone it for later.

Hey Andy....good to see/hear from ya! Car looks awesome!!!

Looks like it should be a 'shine' run.....if it rains we'll postpone it.
I'll get the map out and scout some pick-up points for those who want to jump in along the way. I'm talking to the restaurant now and setting up our lunch.

The last time we did this we had a LOT more cars than we ever thought we'd have. The guy who organized it ran off and left us as they were speed demons. I had a good time but it left us pretty unorganized. This WILL NOT be the case on this cruise.

Maps will be available. We'll all stay together unless anyone wants to break free. It's a nice mountain drive.....country roads, follows a river at times, we will decide if we want to stop at the White Water Center where the ATL Olympics were held and you can get your toes in the ice cold water coming off the mountain.....photo ops......just a nice drive in the Vette.

It's shaping up! Keep watching....there's more info coming.

Sept 8 will be here before ya know it! Details as soon as I get it together. We'll be going up I-575 to Blue Ridge so take a look as to where you want to jump in. Talking Rock might be good for you.

I don't want to give away all my secrets, but this will be a nice long drive. We'll have some twisties for the spirited drivers and easy country roads for the not so spirited. Something for everyone on this trip. Apples/fried pies on the way home! The last time we were there Mercer's had hard cider!

I think we passed a bunch of you last November near the Dragon. : I would love to meet up with you but (un)fortunately we will be in the middle of the Carribean on Sept 8. Not to be selfish but maybe it will rain. If not maybe next time.
