Default "First Chance Cruise"

It's time again for the "First Chance Cruise". The meet-up location will be New Year's Day at the Food Lion Parking Lot on 460 at Thomas Jefferson Road(SR811), road and weather conditions permitting, at 11:00AM. The route is still to be determined due to weather. All updates will be given as far out as possible.

Circle your calendars for April 1st, 2016 at Charity Laps at VIR which is a lot of fun. This thread started to be about the fall event back in November, but ended up being a planning session for the spring event in April.

Cliffs version: We've been approved for an all-Corvette run group!

Awesome, I will pass this along. The Virginia Corvette Club was trying to do the same thing at the April Event. Looks like you beat us to it.

Default 1st Chance 2016

It looks like Mother Nature is going to play nice to start off 2016. With weather subsiding on Wednesday and a warm 57 and mostly sunny Thursday to setup a brisk dry Friday January 1, 2016 for a great 1st Chance Cruise in the New Year.

I will get the route up later on tonight. For now the basic points will be Starting at the Food Lion Parking lot on East Lynchburg-Salem Turnpike (460) and 'meandering' through the back roads of Bedford County to have lunch at Trios on Forest Road (221) in Forest.

***This will not be a 10 minute ride up Thomas Jefferson Road (811). If you know me there will be curves...I love curves***

I need a head count as soon as possible to give to Kelly at Trios.

Thanks,
Craig

The route is going to change, but the starting point and time will remain the same. The end point will be the same, but later.

I will re-post the route when it is determined.

We had a great 1st Chance Cruise today. 17 Corvettes showed up to kick the New Year off right. We had to shorten the course a little to keep up with time, but all in all it was a fun time.

We bought our first Corvette, a 2006 Black 3LT Coupe with 5,800 miles on February 14, 2012. We kept it until February of 2013 and traded it in with 12,000 miles. Then we bought our current Corvette a 2013 Black 3LT Grand Sport on June 24, 2013 from Mike Furman of Criswell Corvettes. After we bought the Grand Sport we decided to become more active in Corvettes so we became members of the National Corvette Museum. We recently joined the Virginia Corvette Club. I was also wanting to see how many other Forum Members live in the Lynchburg, VA area and would be interested in getting out and enjoying our Corvettes.

My wife and I, mostly me, love to cruise. Especially the awesome back roads of the region. We have taken in several drives on the Parkway from South Roanoke to Crabtree Falls, cruising around Smith Mountain and Leesville Lakes, and have even gone as far as visiting Deals Gap, NC to survive The Dragon (US 129) and The Cherohala Skyway.

We are also interested in getting together and meeting people who share the same passion for the Great American Sports Car as much as we (I) do. I would like to see, at the least, a Cars & Coffee in Lynchburg with an optional Cruise Out afterward.

I see that there are several threads on Corvette Forum that are centered around certain geographical regions of the United States that are used as message boards and ways to communicate happenings and general friendly atmosphere building. That is what I would like this thread to become. Not just a "get together" to talk about cars, enjoy malt beverages, and just hang out, but get out and enjoy our Corvettes.
Awesome trip and even better pictures! Really NICE!

Good show!
