It was a good shop when Gig owned it. But after GIG passed away the current owner purchased Corvette Specialist from Georgia, Gigs wife.
I called and he was rude.

The worst shop in the area. The owner doesn't actually work at the shop anymore. He's a service writer at a auto body shop.

Sorry you had a bad experience..All I can relate is my own and I stand by it.
I am very familiar with the history of this company and knew all the players involved. Unfortunately, as with any 40+ year old company, it has seen it's share of negative press such as yours..
My personal experience only goes back 4 years as I personally know one of the partners. I worked very closely with him in the 70's and 80's through G.M.s engine development program and testing within the N.H.R.A. experimental classes.I can honestly say that his intuition and knowledge compares with the likes of Bill Jenkins and even Smokey Yanick that were also members of the program at that time.
Unfortunately, His desire to resurrect the company was not met with the same viger with the rest of the owners and he has since moved on to start his own company in Chantilly last July.

I've been a customer of corvette specialists (now corvette motorsports) for the last 2 years. While the current owner/operator, can certainly seem to be gruff at times, he is a nice guy and knowledgeable about all corvettes. If you're looking for him to coddle you, he won't do that. If he has to choose between your feelings and the car, he will pick the car.
He's been taking good care of my c3 since I bought it and I will continue to use him.
Things he has done:
4 speed trans rebuild
Clutch
Rear main seal
Brake calipers
Radiator
Borgesson steering kit install

I first took my 76 to the mechanic/owner in 2010. Since then I have had him completely restore the corvette mechanically without a single return... when it was Corvette Specialist and now Corvette Motorsports. The first owner when it was Corvette Specialist couldn't repair a bicycle, he was just the owner. The new owner is the mechanic with 30+ years on Corvettes from C1-C7, that's right C7s. I got complete restoration of engine, exhaust, lights & vacuum system, all electrical harnesses, all electrical everything, complete suspension including lowering, all hi-performance upgrades, interior restore, engine rebuild & hi-perf, window restore, etc. etc... NO RETURNS OR RE-DOs!!! Is he cheap? NOPE! Is he going to hold your hand? NOPE! I'm looking for a well built Corvette that hauls *** and lasts! Not a friend... I got a wifey for dat!!!

Usually when a business is "by appointment only", it's because they do not have the hours or staff to really be there. I know every time this Chantilly shop comes up for discussion, CMTECH tells everyone how wonderful the shop is, and how busy they are.
Coincidentally, later this month, I will be in Chantilly, so perhaps I should drop by and see how "busy" they really are, and what this shop is doing these days.
