2016 Corvettes on The Circle - St. Armands Circle/Sarasota Florida
Registration for the 2016 Corvettes on the Circle show in beautiful, St. Armands Circle, Sarasota, FL on Saturday - May 7, 2016 is now open.
This will be the 20th anniversary of the Skyway Corvette Club hosting this show and we're expecting another great event to showcase and share our Corvette passion while donating the proceeds of the show to the Honor Flight Network of West Central Florida.
This year's show will also include one-of-a-kind donations from the Corvette Racing Team for our silent auction.
In addition, the popular "Ultimate Surrender" show trophies will be back as a salute to the iconic Sarasota landmark that most show participants will see as they cross the Ringling Bridge into St. Armands Circle.
Plus, we're working on some extra surprises as well...
Links to the registration form as well as more information on the Honor Flight Network of West Central Florida are below. Please register early as we stop registration at 150 cars and last year we closed registration in early April. Not because we want to, rather because we have a capacity limit in the park.

February 1st update. We already have close to 50 registrations, so if you plan to attend the show, please register early. We are land-locked by the circle park, so we stop registration at 150 even though we usually squeeze in a few more day of show.

Yes. The host hotel information is on the flyer/registration form that can be obtained on our club website. I have copied it below:
• Host Hotel – The newly remodeled Holiday Inn Lido Beach located at 233 Ben Franklin Drive Sarasota, FL 34236 (Corvette cleaning prep area with water & hose provided for Circle Show Participants)
o Call (800) 892-9174 to make your reservation and indicate “Corvettes on the Circle”
o All hotel reservations must be made by April 16, 2016
♣ Gulf View Room Circle Show Rate: $239.00
♣ City View Room Circle Show Rate: $199.00
Also a reminder that the show is "Rain or Shine" and that it is on SATURDAY, May 7th. Every year we have one or two registered folks who mistakenly show up on Sunday so I want to make that clear. St. Armands Circle is a popular local attraction and is reserved on a consistent basis with various events throughout the year. So if you show up on the following Sunday expecting a Corvette show, you may end up at an art fair.

No additional information except that the show will run between 9AM and 3PM. Parking is limited so if you want to get good parking around the Circle, I suggest arriving early. Many other Corvette owners who do not want to participate in the show, get their early and park in the open slots on the street surrounding the Circle.

March 1st Update: We're already close to 100 registrations or 2/3 of the way there. If you or your club are interested in entering the show, please submit your registration forms as soon as possible as we close registration at 150 cars. Last year we closed registration in early April and since we're already ahead of last year's registration pace, I anticipate that we will need to close registration earlier this year.
I also saw some of the C7 Racing Team items that will be included in our Silent Auction and they are really cool. This will be an excellent opportunity to own a custom Corvette Racing item not available anywhere else and all proceeds go to the sponsored charities.
We're looking forward to another great show!

If it rains this show falls apart, no communications, no organization, trophies go to anyone who wants one. When asked about judging sheets club members get very disrespectful, my wife asked and was cursed out.
Hopefully it will not rain and the club has gotten rid of the fowl mouthed members.

Living in Florida you always need to be ready for the occasional pop-up rainstorm, however our show hardly "falls apart" if it rains. Our 2014 show was the only show in 19 years where it rained all day and we still soldiered on and tried our best to have a good time and host a good show. I know because I arrived at 5AM to help set up the show and I left at 5PM after everything had been taken down. It started raining at 6:30 AM and the steady downpour didn't stop until after the show let out later that afternoon. The primary reason we decided to announce the awards and close the show an hour early that year was because many of the registered participants and Corvette owners parked in the center of the Circle were concerned that the parking area was getting too wet and that the car tires were starting to sink into the muddy, saturated ground so they asked us to announce the awards and close the show about an hour early as it was obvious that the rain wasn't going to stop. What's crazy is that I remember a few participants who approached us who were visibly angry and upset over the non-stop rain and asked us what we planned to do about it, as if we had control over the weather and had a rain on/off switch at the main tent. I'm not sure what else we could have communicated during the actual show except that it was "still raining" as all other planned activities took place.
The weeks following the show, we received many emails and letters from both individuals and clubs complimenting us on how well we were able to manage a difficult situation and still put on a fun show. We even had one club who had 10 cars drive in from 500 miles away inform us that they still had a great time despite the rain because unlike parking lot shows, we have many great restaurants, pubs, and retail stores surrounding the Circle for people to enjoy in addition to the beautiful Corvettes on display.
We clearly point out in our annual registration communications that the show is "rain or shine" primarily because St. Armand's Circle is a popular tourist and event attraction and there is usually another event planned the Sunday after our Saturday show so there is no alternate date.
I know most of our club members personally and I can't imagine any one of them cursing out any participant in the show unless provoked. Interestingly, as show chairman the last two years, the only handful of negative comments I received were from people who felt they should have won a trophy even though our show is participant's choice and as the host club, we don't vote or enter our cars. In your case, is this a coincidence?
