It's about an hour drive from Hoover Alabama to the track and the line up starts at 7:00 AM Saturday morning. I have thought about staying in Pell City which is only 15 minutes from the track but i don't want to miss the evening at Hendrick Chevrolet.
This will be my first trip to Talladega and this type of event but looking forward to it.

In years past, seemingly everyone stayed in Pell City at either the Holiday Inn express or the Hampton next door. I've always stayed at the Holiday and for $80 and a full breakfast included it couldn't be beat. Plus both hotel parking lots were packed with Corvettes, which put my mind at ease, as opposed to parking next to mini vans ..etc. The Holiday also has a water spigot in back so its nice for guys like me who prefer a hand wash with my own care care products vs the drive thru car washes.

I too intend to do the car show at Hendricks on Friday but also the motor sports museum by the track on the same day. There will alot of driving no matter where a guy stays be it in Pell or Hoover...coin flip... (heads).

I hear ya. I booked to stay at the Hampton Inn in pell city like I did every year. Price was 99.00 no special discount this year. Would rather be 15 mins from the track vs an hour. I have participated in my fair share of caravans so iam good. I would rather be able to sleep in a little later and then no rushing getting the car detailed and off to the track. To each their own though...its all good.

Is it worth booking 2 nights or will the afternoon track laps be over early enough to get a good start back home?

I've been to 5 of these deals and by 5pm everything is normally done. 2 years ago I ran in the last session and was out the gate at 4:30. So depending on where you live you should get out no later then 5pm.

Hey Mike I plan to hook up with you for the car show and maybe the Museum depending on what time we leave Hendricks. I'm bringing my 12x12 pop up so we don't bake in the sun..

I just booked the Hampton Inn, as well. I tend to agree about staying a little closer to the track.

We went the last time it was held and had a blast there. Hung out in the parking lot most of the evening and met a lot of great people.

The Vette is actually my wife's car.....Yellow 2013 GS (GA plate "ANTPOOH") with supercharger and meth injection. Didn't have that last time.

She was very nervous about driving around a super speedway, so I did the first session. Next up, she went....First time she had ever driven that fast. She absolutely loved it, and I never drove another session.

This time we are in for 5 sessions.....1 for me and 4 for her.

Anyway, if you see a yellow Vette with ANTPOOH plates, stop and say hi!

You'll get to see a girls "idea" of what a Vette should look like .....yes it's "chickafide"

I'm telling you all the fast cars are staying at the Hampton !! She's going to have a blast with the new power she is bringing this year. Don't forget to bring some extra methanol. I went through 7 bottles of Heet at the last event...

Too funny!.....I think they limited the track speed to 100, but of course everyone would "accordian" out in the turns and punch it on the back stretch.

She got up to around 120 before having to back off. Later, in the garage she overheard guys talking about going faster than that and thought they were BS'ing.

Then she found out they had superchargers and meth....Needless to say her car was in the garage for "upgrades" after the Talladega visit.

And your correct on the limited speed. A lot of people at the last event thought this deal was a race and it's not, It's a great fund raiser for some very good causes. This will be my sixth Event and this year I'm going to just enjoy the whole Talladega experience. I'm bringing my car with the Drag setup in it and hopefully enjoy some "Mexico" runs if the opportunity arises....

Thank you all for your support of Vettes4Vets. Should be a great track day.

Yes, the pan is to leave the Costco Parking lot about 6 to 6:15 to get to Talladega.

We will line up about the first 75 to 90 cars for the first wave to Talladega.

Then the second wave will be about 7 Am

We are working on these time slots and working with the Hoover Police Department for our escort.

Final Times and car numbers/session will be finalized on or about May 1st.

Yes Friday night is the BIG Show. Lots of fun with the Show and Shine from 2 to 6.

BBQ will be available for sell with drinks.

Hendrick has a lot of stuff to raffle off.

There will be the commemorative Tee Shirt for V4V Talladega 2016.

Also the first ever commemorative Vettes4Vets Challenge Coin will be available.

Also there will be a limited edition of 30 Cal Bullet Bolt Action Purple Heart Pens available.

We have over 260 registrations from over 15 states as far away as Alaska and San Diego.

Thanks again to Hendrick Corvette/Chevrolet who without their support and sponsorship we could not have pulled this off this year.

Be sure to thank any Hendrick Auto for their support of Vettes4Vets.

It is all about the Veterans!

Sincerely
