Try using this semi live map tool. I use it all the time and it shows, closures, wrecks, construction, heavy traffic, etc. Just click on the city name closest to where you want to start checking. You can then scroll in any direction. I use the same version for I-81 as well.

And if you want to make sure give the NC Highway Patrol a call. Any station will know for sure. Have a safe trip.

I would load the WAZE App. It gives real time info regarding closings. Had some friends run into the same issue on I 40 and Hwy 74 last week due to the hurricane. Good luck.

I-95 in North Carolina opened both ways Monday. There were three different crashes with multiple deaths today. Crashes were very serious and involved tractor trailer rigs an RV and chemical fire so road was closed for hours. Accidents were in the Johnston County area east of Raleigh which is roughly in the central area where I-95 crosses the state. While I-95 should be good for your return trip the heavy rains from the hurricane have caused prolong flooding. Be careful should you want to get off I-95 for eats etc. as many side roads and some residential areas near the rivers remain flooded and closed. Be safe!
