Default Planning new road trip 2017-Atlanta

Decided to go to Atlanta for the NRA convention. Anyone have a favorite parking garage they use downtown....one they can trust the Corvette to? I notice I can prebook a space, so thought I would try that but would like a recommendation. Thanks

more information is needed. Where is the convention located in Atlanta ? ... big place ... My suggestion is stay in Buckhead (your car will remain very safe) and take an UBER ... MARTA if you are adventurous. Traffic volume, slow downs/stops, and overall driving experience in Atlanta are miserably poor.

Good advice. I've found that many parking garages in town are not Corvette friendly. Deep gutters, speed bumps, etc. are really common. As stated, traffic can be a nightmare, especially on the north side of town.

Thanks for the replies. It's being held at the Georgia World Conference Center. Got a room in Sandy Springs. Thought I would drive to downtown as there seems to be a ton of parking lots- street level as well as covered lots. But I suppose I could take uber. Any other thoughts?

I highly recommend alternative transportation. The only time I've ever had any vandalism and theft on a car is at the WCC.

I have never and will never take my GS into downtown. I only take my Sequoia into town. I assume by NRA you mean National Rifle Assn, so I would be carrying if they allow. I doubt if you can at the WCC though.

I was thinking of attending as well and I feel that security will be at the forefront for those attending. I sure hope so. Just think of the 'items' that will be in all the cars there. A criminal's paradise and there are plenty of'em in Atlanta. I would not take my Corvette just in case.

I work in downtown Atlanta on a daily basis. Car break-ins have become endemic throughout the city, including Buckhead. It seems no place is really exempt from it.

The Uber suggestion is a good one, not just because of that potential, but because of the horrendous traffic, even on weekends, and terrible roads through the downtown area.

Found this on NRA site:

During the 2017 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, lawfully carried firearms will be permitted in the Georgia World Congress Center and the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center in accordance with Georgia law. However, firearms are not allowed in the remainder of the CNN Center, including the food court and shops. When carrying your firearm, remember to follow all federal, state and local laws.

Coming down I75 S from Chattanooga, where would be a safe place to park and use Uber to the WCC? Thinking somewhere around Cumberland Mall at Galleria area maybe?

Cumberland Mall is safe enough, but with the Braves stadium just across the way that's a disaster now as well if there's a game going on. They are out of town during the convention period at least.

Between that and the I-85 bridge outage downtown, the area's just one big cluster right now.

No, decided I didn't want to take my new Z06 into that traffic and parking mess. Went the the Dragon instead 22 miles 636 curves...a lot of fun.
