FL Corvette Challenge, Round 1....A HUGE Success!!!
Man :D....it was such a great day, I don't know where to start :D (pics are at the bottom if you don't like reading ;) :D)
OK, Let me begin by thanking Bradenton Motorsports Park (Dave and Allen) for putting this all on, allowing us our own staging area and lanes and just plain everything!!! y'all ROCK!!!
Next, let me thank the sponsors and although we didn't have enough time to get 'em all printed, the shirts and a full compliment of trophies and awards will be given out for the March 22nd Round 2 Date! Thanks to Ecklers, Norris Motorsports (Mike), CorvetteConnections of Lee County(Keith), Faster Proms (Jeremy), The CorvetteForum (Troy) and the Z06Forum (Tom and Les) :D  We now have a ton of trophies and awards for the winners :D
Next...congrats go out to Emily Lewis for winning Round 1 of the Challenge :D ....damn it guys, we really need to learn how to stop jumping that light ;) :smash: and not just Bob, 16Again :jester But trust me, it wouldn't have mattered today.....in the last round she ran within 3/100ths of her dial-in and NAILED the tree :D ......next month y'all, next month :D.....congrats Emily  :D
Bob (16Again) came in 2nd and I believe Marc (C5Man) came in 3rd :D
The CorvetteConnections car took home best ET  :D
C5BTW had the best RT, with a .506 but that was during practice runs and not the qualification runs....during which, I ran a .518 but alas......not the best of the day ;) and although a trophy winning RT, they weren't printed in time :(....next month :D
Thanks to TLewis and his family for running the whole show :D:D:D  ......without y'all, no way it'd be near as fun :D  And I gotta special smiley for Mrs TLewis ;) :reddevil :jester :blueangel: Tracy says he doesn't run the vette 'cause he wouldn't have the time to run the show, but I think it's because his 16 year-old daughter runs better than him :D....and most all of us on any given day!

Looking forward to next month and looking forward to going deeper than Round2 :D

I wish I could have been there... I couldn't take any chances because of the weather forecast... I cannot drive at all with my Drag Radials in rain.. (just about no thread left on my Drag Radials - so I will only drive 480 miles roundtrip with less than 20 chance of rain...

I think I managed to get sand up my #@$%! :jester
Congratulations to Emily and Bob (when he wins I can throw him in the water right?)!
Thank you to everyone who helps put this event on!
Damn you MeanGreen! I wanted to me 'Sir Not Appearing in this Photo Gallery'... but I see you had to resort to your long range lense to get me. :p:
See you next month! :steering:

Just remember, seeing as that I am vertically challenged I may drown in the water box so keep a life preserver handy.

Mark
It looks like you all had a great time.
I think I will come down to Florida in the summer or late fall to race in the Challenge.
I sometimes race in the NJ Challenge but up there I have to dial in the 14 with the vert. (no fun).
We can do a run together like we did in the Jan Daytona event.

Olivier, you know I like you and respect you and your car but in this case MG2K is right...the Challenge is about soooo much more than winning...heck, we all are competitive and want to win...the point is I feel like a winner every time I just show up...why ?....because I get to spend the day at the strip with brother drag racers enjoying the comraderie and, oh yeah, I get in at least 5 runs...more if I go out early and just "test and tune" the rest of the day...you have built a beautiful and very fast vette and I miss seeing you run it...join in the FUN buddy....

Re: FL Corvette Challenge, Round 1....A HUGE Success!!! (Mean Green 2000)
Fun day, thanks for the pics. Washed my car and the front end looks like it was sandblasted. Which, I guess, it was. Still a lot of fun and learned a lot too. Everyone that can should go to the Charlotte show this weekend, it seems like those guys are always showing up to everyone else's show.
