I have a A&A centrifugal supercharger on my base 08 Coupe. It's a Vortec head unit with the proprietary mounting brackets and aftercooler. The aftercooler made by Griffith radiators is pretty large...nothing toy like here. For me, the choice was between A&A and the Edelbrock Roots blower unit. Actually, if you take your Covette to Andy Green's shop in Ventura, Ca, he will gladly install either supercharger. Andy Green is the owner of the A&A supercharger kit...I think he has an exclusive relationship with Vortec were he sells Vortec head unites for Corvettes on a non-competitive relationship with Vortec. He sells his Vortec supercharger kits to others.
If you want to supercharge your Corvette and have a choice between a centrifugal supercharger (Vortec, A&A) or a roots blower (Eaton,Edelbrock) which do you want? I'm knowledgeable to answer this question, but not an expert. The centrifugal blower greatest fault is also it's greatest advantage!! Below 2000 rpm, with the centrifugal, it won't produce any significant boost (about 1/2 psi at 2000 rpm). Not exceeding 2000 rpm's means that your Corvette's hp is basically close to stock and even at that you can still outperform almost all cars on the street of freeway. Below 2000 rpm's, your Corvette's fuel consumption will be pretty much stock.
With the Edelbrock roots blower unit, you get positive boost at all rpm's. Running at low rpms cruising on the freeway, the bypass gate blows off excess pressure. Anytime you bobble the throttle, the roots blower system responds by closing off the bypass gate and injecting in extra fuel. The advantage of the roots blower, is that there is no throttle lag. Punch it and you have max boost at any rpm. The disadvantage of the roots blower system, is that bobbling the gas peddle in a back forth manner during normal cruising on the freeway, means that you're going to be burning a lot of fuel.
The alternate centrifugal blower will become noticeably alive at 3000 engine rpms and engine hp will just keep increasing with engine rpms. I dyno'd at 300 rear wheel hp at 3000 engine rpms. 580 rear wheel hp at 6500 rpms. 580 rear wheel hp probably translates to the low 600 hp levels at the flywheel.
For me, I like the stock like performance below 2000 rpm. I and my wife can drive the car in city and normal highway traffic without concern.......basically below 2000 rpms, it drives just like a normal car. (Well OK, even below 2000 rpms, don't slam the gas peddle to the floor!! It's an automatic tranny, and if it downshifts and the rpm's go up...big trouble!!)

That's great you are enjoying your Vette with the A&A Kit....
I just wanted to clarify your observations regarding roots style superchargers. You stated they burn alot more fuel because of bobbling the throttle... that's not true. Even though the Edelbrock has the ability to go into boost at a very low RPM range it doesn't happen unless you stab into the throttle.
Both Centrifugal and Roots styles have their benefits. I personally love the roots style myself as you get the majority of TQ when you want it. 90% of the people out there drive their cars on the street and basically do stop light to stop light racing where they will never really whine up the RPMs.

Bump for the best power upgrade for your Vette! More power and better driveability than Heads/ Cams/ and headers! If you heads, CAM, and headers already you'll make ALOT more HP by adding a blower and meth.
0% Financing available for up to 1 year! We accept all Car Care One Cards So who wants a set?
