Default cage legal in Los Angeles?

Considering putting a 4 pt in the Camino may need it

Was cautioned CHP may hassle me over it.

Are they not legal or something?

Anyone got a link to this?

Gone way out of my way to make the car appear stock but a cage even a cleanly done one would be visible to a point at least the rear hoop crossbar/harnesses

Want to run legally at the track but am not going to weld something in if I am going to get hassled street driving it which I enjoy.

CHP will not bother you with it assuming its not blocking your vision out the front or side windows otherwise they don't care.

its my understanding that no part of it can block your view more than your current pillars do, it needs to be padded on any part that may contact your body'like your head', and you need a street legal harness, like this company makes'. http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclsafety.htm
there are other harnesses available.
advice from a tuner that I know is to tint your back window. Cops will pull you to check your harness.
his other point was that if you're in an accident, your insurance wont pay due to it being modified for racing

btw, he only mentioned city cops

I had one for years in my last car and never had any cops, Highway Patrol or City Police, say anything about it one way or another. And I did get a tickets while it was in the car, one for window tint and one for no front plate

As far as insurance goes, I doubt you would have a denied claim unless it was proved your accident was racing related. If you file a claim for a legitimate accident and they denied it based on a roll cage, I would certainly think you would have a legal course of action. Now, if you're that paranoid, I'd talk to my agent to make sure. My agent, who I know, knows that I raced and we both understood that I was SOL if I got into an accident at the track as racing was specifically excluded in my policy.

Only place Id use

http://bentcustomandperformance.com/services-sheet.html

You shoud see the cage he is doing now on a Cuda in there. Super clean very well formed, tucked in. I was impressed. most cage jobs out there look like azz. And you car will be safe, not "test driven" etc.

Hes worked on a number of forum Vettes

There is nothing specifically illegal about a roll cage. There is nothing in the vehicle code about roll cages. The only thing that MAY come into play is if the cage obstructs your vision in some way, and if it does its a bad cage anyways.

As far as where would I go to get a roll cage fabbed?

JCG in Oxnard. Its just up the street from A+A that advertises on here a lot.
