Default For Corvettes out of warrenty

I wish there was a corvette service place besides Rydell or what have you that could do good work on a 2005 Z51- oil changes, brake fluid, transmission… my engine light is on code reads catalytic convertor ,but it could just be the sensor- car runs great…but to fix it at Rydell (could be any dealer) they want to slap on a new one ($700+)…I live in the Woodland Hills area….?

R&S Automotive in Newhall.
Ask for Steve Jolley.

He is a former GM tech and very knowledgeable.
Used to be the top troubleshooter at the dealership he worked for.

Try Big O Tires on Ventura just east of Reseda, they have been doing all the work on my 07 and I could not be happier. They can do a lot more than tires. They do all of my regular maintainance and more. they were able to diagnose problems in 30 minutes that the dealer could not in 2 days.

they are also reasonably priced and won't gouge you.

Thanks guys- Ive been to Big O- and Newhall works as well. As it happens the engine light went off again after a 45 minute high speed Sunday AM cruise up the 101. It takes several days for the light to go off. When I shut the car down I can hear a click just as the engine light display goes off. Anyway, if it comes on again I'l give these places a call.
Thanks Again

Hank,

You might give Mike Bradley's Automotive a call. Tim is the guy to talk to. When Rydell doesn't do it I let them, he works on my: 2000 Corvette, 1964 Corvette, 2005 XLR, TBSS and others. Great shop and they really care. Lots of us guys with older (C1 & C2) Corvettes trust him with those.

Bet its nothing more than a flaky 02 sensor my Silverado does the same thing. Thoguht id be smart and replace the cats which were fine. Food for thought.

Moi over at Friends and Family automotive in Canoga Park will do a live scan on the car for $100 and tell you exactly whats wrong. Honest guys and real fair. Runs a decent shop. Euro specialist but can fix just about anything

Dick, there are exceptions to every rule. If you lived up here you could have Donny at Rydell work on your car.

OP, you should check to see if Cunningham Motorsports is close to you. They are a premiere shop in SoCal.

Agreed, there are exceptions to every rule. I was gonna edit my post to include Rydell and Able Chevy as exceptions to the "stay away from the dealer rule".

Yeah, good point, Howie. My experience has been limited to a couple of Orange County dealers.
