You are a very clever observer DH. I was at Big Willow today and I was telling everybody at lunch how funny it will be to watch all of us big iron track drivers try to figure out how to auto cross. After we try it they'll have to call it "auto criss/cross". I wonder if their corner workers experience anxiety.

After multiple high speed off track excursions while sorting my new race car, it's going to be embarrassing to finally tear my splitter off hitting cones at an auto x.

All kidding aside, I think some of you will get hooked on Autocross.
1. 10/10th's driving. You guys don't ever do that on the track. Trust me.
2. You'll drive your car home, almost guranteed.
3. Competition.
4. Save equipment. Don't have to worry about brakes, tires, overheating, etc.
5. Mental highs and lows like never before.
6. New track every time. Never get bored going around and around the same old track.
7. Low speed that never felt so fast. Here you go for example. That's DH vs. me.

Let's have fun.

WELL SAID!
But those road coarse guys refer to X-cross is liken to Power Wheels or miniature golf compared to golf.
ENLIGHTEN THEM!

Maybe you'll feel what 9/10's is, or not.
This may be as close as we can get to shooting 'fish in a barrel'

As a local, you should definitely try it; if not this this event, then another. I live in Camarillo as well.
The organizer, Darren, is a great guy with a new C7 Z06. There are always a handful of Vettes there, everyone is easy going and the number of participants is limited to insure about 15 runs per day.
(Plus we typically open up the track for "fun runs" at the end of the day so the 10 or so people who hang around can put in as many laps as their tires can stand.)
PS: There's an event this weekend, if it's not full you might want to sign up. http://camarilloautocross.com/ If you just want to drop by to check it out, I'll send you a PM about how to get entry to the landing strip where it's held.
