Default Muffler mod - C6 Z06 - Who to go to

In the San Gabriel Valley (LA COUNTY) Wondering if there is a Vette friendly shop that has done this mod before, also what the labor cost these shops would charge. *(encasing the perforated pipe inside the mufflers NPP mufflers)

The only place I could find was A&A performance in Oxnard.

Do you have the means of removing the mufflers yourself?

It is not hard, you can then cut the mufflers open yourself with a cutting wheel, just take your time. Then do the clamp style mod to the perforated pipe. Then you just need a welder ( most machine shops have a welder, or even a muffler shop.)

They weld the panels back on, then you re-install the mufflers yourself.

Just need to get the rear of the car as high as you can, then drop the sway bar by just removing the sway bar bushing bolts and nuts.

This way you know nothing bad was done to your car, and save yourself some money.

The reason I suggest this way, is I had someone do my muffler mod. (A corvette friendly shop.) It was a terrible job, rattled like crazy. I ended up taking them apart and undoing everything they did (Would have been much easier and quicker to do the job the first time myself.) and had to make new patch panels.

You do not need that hassle.

Good luck,

DJ

The Z06 bi-mode mufflers (early version) had a perforated inner pipe section which made them mild sounding. Cutting the can open, then covering the perforated section (weld solid pipe, or clamp style) allows the mufflers to sound more aggressive.

Now you can just purchase late model Z06 or ZR1 to get the same sound.

Oh, I see.

Thanks for that explanation.
