Orange County, Superior Automotive Dyno Day Official Thread - 3 Pulls With A/F @ $50
I received an e-mail from Superior Automotive wondering what was going on. If you missed the prior thread, we are looking at three pulls on the Superior Automotive chassis dyno with A/F read-out for $50 per car.
They said they had the Sunbeam Tiger Club last Sat and will have the Z club next Sat. All other days are free at this time.
They say the typical turnout is 20 cars, but they can accomodate us into the night if necessary.
I know there is a Corvette of SoCal event on Aug 1 and I have stuff on Aug 8th, so I'm proposing Saturday, August 15th, 22nd, or 29th.
So this is the official sign-up thread! State your screen handle and if you have a preferred date. We will try to do it on the day most selected.
Lets make this fair. We will try to take the cars in the order that people sign up. You need to be there when your time comes due, regardless of what time it is. If you are not there when your designated "spot" comes up, you shift to the end of the line and will NOT the next person taken just because you had a prior sign-up spot.
Anybody that shows up after you, who also misses their spot, will go to the end of the line after you, and so forth. But if someone comes after you and is still in time for their designated spot, they keep that spot. This keeps things moving.
So lets' get this started. Corvettes only please!
Handle, Vehicle, Preferred date
toddalin, 1964 Coupe, Aug 15
Olitho, 2002 Z06, Aug 15
ZedO6, 2002 Z06, Aug 15
mukak, 2006 z06, Aug 15
Arrowsmith 1996 LT1, Aug 15

I'm assuming that this would start about 8:00 AM, but we will get a definitive time.
If someone wants to sign up, but wants a spot further down (later in the day) on the list, you can trade with someone else so long as both parties are in agreement and you show up in time for your re-designated spot.
If you are late for your re-designated spot, you shift to the end of the line as if you missed your original spot.
Everyone capishe?
I'll get the tabulation going later today. But in the meantime, get signed up.
Included is a link to the Superior Automotive Engineering website so you can check them out and get directions.

I am 2 for 2 in dyno shops that do not calibrate them. that makes any readings worthless. do these guys recalibrate?

Beware.
Superior Automotive (used to specilize in Fords mostly when in Anahiem) past reputation for repair work, engine rebuilds etc speaks for itself.
Current reviews are just as bad.

Look at the above YELP reviews then click on the link in 8/1/14 review that shows the old Anahiem location reviews. Why do you think it hidden from google search?? Sounds pretty shady if ya ask me.
A friggen monkey with Spicolli's dads tools could do better work.
I realize it's just dyno runs, but I would have a hard time supporting a shop with that kind of reputation.

Looks like the Chevelle Club did a dyno day similar to what we are proposing and had a nice time.

A late model Corvette is light-years ahead of say a 68 Chevelle when it comes to tech/tuning etc obviously.
I'm not here to spoil the party brother. Just wanted to give a heads-up to their less than stellar reputation...as well as warn those that may get sold into getting any work done there. You are more than welcome to support them. Myself and many many others feel otherwise.
Good luck.

Hesitant to post, but one is in MV on Fabricante; primarily a Rustang place. When I asked my professional Corvette expert, gary L. about my car;s results, he remarked that they wer way below what the car delivers, based upon his hands-on driving of it.
The other is off Batavia, visited with the Blockheads some months ago. The owner admitted his dyno reads low; in reply to the disappointment of a CTS-V owner's WTF question about his runs.
That's when I left. The runs may be fun to witness, but I refuse to pay for BS info or 'service'.
YMMMV. Y'all have fun!

I'll tell you flat out. The last dyno day we did with the Corvette Forum was at West Coast Corvettes.
WCC stopped many of the runs (mine included), because they said from their A/F readout the cars were "lean" and they didn't want to blow them up (understandable).
Several members with on-board A/F read out noted that the WCC equipment was off by about 1.1 point. My two runs (they terminated third one) compared with prior runs also showed their equipment to be 1.1 point off (lean).
To this day, WCC defends their A/F readouts, but none of us believe them.
Was still fun to do and my hp/torque numbers were comparable with prior pulls.

FWIW, WCC no longer owns a dyno.
