Default C7 Z51 Header Install

I was at a local shop on Saturday and was quoted over $100hr for approximately 8 hours to install headers on my C7. Has anyone paid for this to be done and does that sound correct? I do not believe this was with a tune.

That is crazy expensive it's not a hard job and you should consider doing it yourself?

I thought it sounded expensive, but wasn't sure. I need to call a couple other shops this week to get quotes.

I would do it myself other than ---> lazy

It's worth it to me to pay someone else to install. Just need to get quotes on the pricing is all.

You are, in effect, asking the shop to break the law...they aren't gonna do it for cheap just for you to possibly have issues and bring it back as a comeback or maybe sue them later on.

It could also be their way of telling you they don't want to do it.

My point of view (from a shop's perspective is one you might not have considered). Also, why would anything be cheap for a C7? Vette tax for sure. Unless the headers are truly a bolt on affair, they are probably padding some time in for 'custom work' which always sucks compared to stock replacement parts which is what most shops would prefer to be doing. There is always going to be something- like having to custom make an o2 sensor extension or source hardware that didn't come in the kit. Also does that work also include hanging a new cat back?

Something like that is 6-8 hrs anyhow.

I guess I should have been more exact with my original posting and mentioned I am far capable of conjecture and speculation on my own. Thanks for the input though...

I never asked for "cheap". Just doing a price comparison. Much like people do when buying these cars, parts, etc. Sorry I wasn't more clear in my original post. I'm trying to compare what people have paid for this service. Not speculating as to what justifies it.

That price is in line with prices I got for a C6 install +/- $200. FWIW I had a hard time finding a shop that would be okay with removing the cats, the ones that would were around that price. I ended up doing it myself, it took around 6 1/2 hours and I'm very mechanically inclined. I can see it costing that much with a shop that has $100+/hr labor rates.

Not enough info.

Is it just the header install or....

- Gaskets provided by the shop or you? Type/brand?
- Are you providing the intermediate pipe the headers will bolt to or will the shop custom make it? If custom made, what material (stainless, mild steel)?
- Any added heat shielding desired and if so who is providing the material?
- Bolts or studs?

etc

Straight header install, no warranty, none of the above extras, it's consistent/within reason with what I've seen elsewhere.
