I am coming from Lufkin (about 120 miles north of Sugarland) and would be interested in a caravan. Can't tell what my schedule is going to be yet but I'm sure I could jump in one of those time slots!

I'm here in corpus christi right now. One word of caution...be careful if you're coming over 181 from the Portland area to get to North Beach and the Lex area....the CC cops are running radar traps relentlessly when you drop off the causeway. I was just at Blackbeards last night eating some grub and they were seriously popping folks....one motorcycle or car running the radar and several other police vehicles waiting to pull you over. Been going on for several weeks according to the locals.

Here's the old thread.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...1691230&page=4

I know that the GEES got ahold of some other caravan people and were participating in the organization. They have a head count of all COCH people going and are also part of an email list. The more helping sort this out the better.

THANKS CHRIS!

We do have what is now a total of 4 groups (A, B, C, D) leaving various locations (i.e. Mississippi & Louisiana) and eventually reaching the Houston/Sugarland area. One group (A) will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Sugarland Thurs., Sept. 13th. Group C is scheduled to arrive in the morning of Fri., Sept. 14. Both Groups A & C will join the Houston group (that's us) and we'll depart Sugarland at approx. 9:00am CT . I agree with Bone Daddy that Holiday Inn Express is way too small. I was already planning to take a trip out there this weekend to find an alternate. Going on Bone Daddy's suggestions, I will look at the area he pointed out and if it's easily accessible and we are easily able to merge with Groups A & C, I will gladly pass this on to the Caravan leaders.

Group B is arriving in Sugarland before noon Friday, Sept. 14th.
They will merge with the Houston/Sugarland group and are planning to depart around 12:00pm noon.

I will try my best to keep everyone updated about any future Caravan plans/changes. Just keep checking this site!

We'll be up for a caravan.

I don't have any plans on when to leave on Fri at this time, so keep the information going and we'll keep checking in.

Oh, and Bone Daddy .... you're going to stay in front of Jason? I gotta see this

Default vettes & jets

In case you haven't heard, there was a small fire on the U.S.S. Lexington yesterday. See link below. It is closed today but I'm sure it'll be up and running before we know it.

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...n/5020300.html

Also, I did a search on this forum to see how many Threads were started for Vettes and Jets. There are too many to count. And if we don't write something everyday, this one will disappear as well. Maybe we should do one called "Vettes & Jets - Caravans" so if anyone does a search, we can easily find it. Again...

Groups A&C will meet the Houston-area group & depart Sugarland at 9:00am
Group B will meet Houston-area group & depart Sugarland at 12:30pm
Group D will not stop in Sugarland but just pass through. Time TBD
Group E (yeah there is another one) is a solo person arriving in CC at night. They are bringing their '62 Roadster in a trailer.

Remember if we lose this site, try "Vettes & Jets - Caravans" I like the idea of starting a list of names for anyone interested in joining the Caravans.

NAME - HANDLE - CAR DESCRIPTION

Sugarland 9:00am departure:

Genevieve & George - GEES - C6 Daytona Sunset Orange
Reid - Bone Daddy - '07 C6 Magnetic Red
Sean - AASports - 2000 black
Fred Mudge - AllzWELL - 2001 Pewter
Bill Schmidt - Bills Z06 - several

Sugarland 12:30pm departure:

Default Caravan Update

Answering some of the common questions....

The caravans are for ALL vettes, ALL clubs and non-members. Even cars that are not Corvettes are welcome - only thing is they have to follow behind the last Corvette.

We are meeting in Sugarland early and will be leaving at 9am & 12:30pm on Friday, Sept. 14th. So if you can meet us at the Super Target on US Highway 59 & State Hwy. 6. There will be cars coming from Mississippi/Lousiana and will be picking us up at those hours.

More details should be posted later today or tomorrow on this thread.

Hotels - Radisson is booked for sure. Quality Inn - don't know but those two are walking distance from the ship. Omni still had rooms last I heard. Also heard the mgrs. from Omni are contemplating providing a shuttle to take people back and forth to Vettes & Jets. Several hotels in the area are giving discounts if we mention Vettes & Jets. Just go into Mapquest and look for hotels in the area and call. We would love to have anyone join us. This will be a memorable occasion and the more the merrier!

There are a total of 8 Vettes from COCH scheduled to be on the U.S.S. Lexington plus 2 more that have confirmed that they will be joining us to Corpus. Total 10 cars from COCH. We purposely did not post the names due to my not being sure it was OK with everyone. 4 are already mentioned on Bone Daddy's list. Thanks!

p.s. NassauBlue ??? Is that you Bob????
