Austin Tx LCC/Gaines Ranch "Experience of a Lifetime" (pics)
A retirement community in SW Austin held an "Experience of a Lifetime" contest. A lady named Eve Stovall won. Her dream was to ride to the state capitol in a yellow Corvette convertible followed by her friends in other Corvettes. The Longhorn Corvette Club made it an official club event. I didn't get pictures of Eve in the yellow Vert. She was in an 86 pace car.
The gentleman who rode with me is named Dwight. He is a Chevy enthusiasts originally from Indiana.
We cruised to the state capitol and parked. Some folks require assistance getting around, so we did not tour the capitol. We had a good turn out of cars. Everyone really enjoyed it.
We headed back to the community. I took this lady named Mary for a ride.
I also took Mark for a ride. Mark loved the handling and the speed of the Vette. He really enjoyed the ride! He wanted me to go fast.
Then some partying with a 50s band.
A Corvette cake.
George dancing. He said he got several phone numbers today.
A cerimony for Eve.
Our club president presenting her with a shirt and making her an honorary member of our club.
It really felt good to do something nice and was a lot of fun for these folks. If you ever get a chance to do something like this, go for it!

I would of attended had i known about this... that's right down the street from my house.
Why don't you post these events on corvetteforum instead of keeping them on longhorn corvette club which requires a membershp fee, then posting about it afterwards on corvetteforum? or did i miss this completely??

The management of The Heritage contacted LCC about this event. You are correct, the LCC does require an annual membership fee. The fee is not very much and also includes your membership in the NCCC (National Council of Corvette Clubs). The club also has corporate sponsors who provide discounts to club members.
A lot of good deeds are done by the club members. I'll contact you the next time I do something with the club and invite you to attend. Being a member of a good club can be a lot of fun.

I'm not knocking LCC, but i remember when i was geting in the vette world, i was trying to find a good local forum/club and get info about meets, parts, events, etc and LCC.com was like fort knox, hehe. I'm sure if you read the rest of the posts, you'll also see that the 620/I-35 sat night meet in round rock was shut down, may want to spread the word on LCC! I'm trying to spread the word to go back south to the Y in oak hill at the old albertsons parking lot. Cars have been meeting here for years with no issue. It may be a few more miles for some, but the meets seem to switch north and south. what's a few more miles anyways... esp if you're driving the vette.

What a thrill for many of those folks, young and old!
