Default Austin, NCCA November Gathering

November 7th has been set for the November gathering of the NCCA (Non Club Club of Austin) monthly gathering. We will start in Northwest Austin and have a nice drive out to the hill country for lunch. Please respond here if you plan on attending so we can give the restaurant a little heads up on the head count.

We will gather at Elite Motor Sports on Anderson Mill Road, just West of RM 620 around 9:30 AM. Elite normally opens at 10:00 AM but will open this day at 9:30 for our browsing pleasure. They have some pretty awesome cars on the show room floor. Boost Logic is next door. If there is enough interest, I can check with them about a tour of their facility.

Elite Motorsports
www.elitemotorsports.com

11906 Anderson Mill Rd
Austin, TX 78726-1169

We will leave there around 10:30AM and head out for a nice drive through the hill country. Will will drive some nice twisty roads out to Lago Vista. We will stop there to re-group and a short break.

Will will continue from there to Marble Falls, then into Spicewood for Lunch at Opie's Barbeque. I drove this route today with some friends. It was a lot of fun and the food at Opie's was great.

There are a couple of warnings:

1) One of the twisty roads is paved with "squirt top" paving. There was a little bit of loose gravel today. That may be because of the rain and could be gone by the 7th. We did not see any damage on any of the 4 cars that ran it today.

2) The parking lot at Opie's is paved close to the building. Farther away is is fine packed down gravel. We parked there without issue, but I just thought I would warn you.

Here are a few shots that I took today at Elite.

Opie's does not have a website. I scanned one of their menus.

Today was a great day for a topless drive. Let's hope for similar weather on the 7th.

Hope to see you there.

No wonder you weren't at the car show. Steve and I were looking for you.

I just got back from 4 weeks of training in Cleveland Ohio. There was a mix up with the car show registration and I didn't get registered. I had too many other things going on anyway. I had committed to organizing this event and needed to drive the roads and check things out.

I saw the pics from the show. Looks like a great location and turn out.

Hope to see you in November.

Future MD and I drove this with Larry (Cozmo), Tom (Mez) and George (not sure what his forum handle is) and let me say it was a BLAST! It's a little annoying when you get stuck behind a slow poke who may or may not be partaking in herbal medicines, as safe passing areas are few, but I think as long as we leave by 10:30 it'll be fine.

While I'd love to avoid the rocks, I don't think it's enough of a deterrent to miss driving on these fun roads. It was quite exhilarating at times around many of the curves.

We'll definitely be there November 7th. I need to upload our pics to see if any do this route justice.

Wendy and I will be there..Sounds like a lot of fun! A tour of Boost Logic would be

Wendy was just asking on Saturday where the next NCCA meet is going to be!

Never been to Elite Motorsports, will be cool to get there and see the cars.

Larry, glad to hear your back! The LCC car show was a great time. Tyna and Joe did a great job of organizing and putting this years show on. Had a great time and got to see a lot of nice cars and talk to some good folks! The square in G-Town was an excellent place to put on a show and there were quite a few folks wondering round talking a look at the cars, etc...

George's ID is Roscoe118. Jason (1 BAD ZR1) knows SW better than I do. I have asked him to talk to them about opening the shop earlier and getting an earlier start on the drive.

I've asked Jason to check into that also.

Thanks Larry. Alan, there was definitely some ganja go'in on in the car in front of us!!! My sense of smell is terrible, and I could smell it. I think I caught enough of it to help my driving on Lime Creek Road....

Can't wait to get back to Opie's for more of that Tater Tot Casserole!!!

Anyone going to the Galleria today. I think I may head over there between 12:30 and 1, just to see what's there.

I guess this is my RSVP.....roscoe +1

George

I'll be calling SW on Monday. As far a boost logic, he doesn't own that and I don't know anyone at that company either. I'll see what I can do.

It is about time for you to trade cars again. Do you have a 6 month limit on ownership? WRX to C6 to C6 Z06 since spring of '08?
