Default Texas Mile Build(lots of pictures)

Hey guys,

Just thought I would share a few pictures of my Texas Mile Build with you.

Here is the main parts of the setup without going in to every detail. The parts that I leave out, I'm sure Jason and Stephen can chime in on. This will be a base C6 car running on stock wheels. Tires are either going to be Toyo R888 or Hoosier R6's. I will update pics as the build happens.

-Forged 402(Lunati crank, rods, Diamond Pistons)
-A&A YSI(16-18psi)
-Ported LS3 heads
-232/244 118 Comp Cam(my picking due to my fiancee not liking a big lope)
-Ported Fast 102 intake(still up in the air whether I will run it or just my LS3 intake).
-ECS Alky system with dual Meth nozzles
-Dallas Performance Direct Drive kit
-MS109 tune
-RSI fuel system

Should be a beast. What're you doing for tires?

Thanks.

I'm in talks with Stan Chen, events director of Toyo tires on a possible sponsorship. Proxes R888 tires. The engineers at Toyo, and Chief of tech for the Texas Mile, Matt Patterson have been in discussion about whether or not these "Y" rated tires will be allowed past 186mph.

I've just started to get in contact with Hoosier and might ask for a partial sponsorship from them. I'd run the R6 tires.

Yes, I am registered to run next month.

Probably so, Dan. If the motor isn't in, I'll head over there today after work and do a little cleaning.

I have already talked with the Cheif of Tech at the Texas mile and here is the email. It is legal to run the Toyo proxy TQ drag Radials on the rear. It is this or Hoosiers

I spoke with Toyo. The TQ is a Z-rated tire for over 149mph with no cap. We are in the process of talking to various tire manufacturers regarding the top speed for tires at the mile. for now, I'm good with the TQ for up to 215. If you haven't purchased tires yet, or are looking to really jack the car up over 215, I'd suggest investing in the Hoosier R6 road race tire.

More information on tires will be posted in the next couple weeks on the forum.

Thanks
Mike

Thanks Mike, I talked last week to Matt and we discussed the possibility of R888's. The Toyo drag radials don't fit my car though.

My name is Marshal. I am looking at doing the Texas Mile but it will depend on my car. I pick the car up tomorrow, it has been in the shop for 2 months getting a new engine, trans, rear diff, roll cage, belts, etc, etc, etc.

Thanks guys.

I look forward to hanging out with Arnold, Steve, and the rest of the seasoned standing mile drivers and learning a few things, as well as hanging out with friends, family and everybody else that we usually pound beers/bbq with late at night out there. 13 years of drag racing, and I feel like an amatuer.

Really excited to finally have my name on the list of participants and a great shop staying up long hours helping me get this thing done.

It's always a gamble when you get a used kit from someone. But we're here for you man, just give me a shout!
