CTS-V on the Circuit of the Americas F1 Track
Today was absolutely awesome. I was able to go to the new COTA Formula 1 track today & drive the CTS-V sedan & coupe on the track.
This was the first of three days of this Cadillac sponsered event & there were quite a few people there. We were broken into three groups & then went through three separate events. First was a modified slalom course with the new ATS sedan. This was done in one of the larger parking lots. Then we went to the pits and had turns driving the CTS-V sedan or wagon & then the coupe. WOW!! That was a complete blast going around the F1 track that just a couple of weeks ago had F1 cars on it. The drivers names were still posted over the doors.
Anyway, I took a few pics with my cell phone. Wish I could have gotten a few going around the track, but I had my hands full.
Andy Pilgrim was also there with his actual CTS-V coupe race car. He is a very personable & friendly guy.
The Observation Tower
Long line of ATS sedans
A few of the CTS-Vs
View down pit lane to turn 1
Main grandstand
Two pretty famous names in F1
Line up of CTS-V coupes
Andy's race car
A couple of CTS-Vs going thru turns 5-6

I was there for the Friday afternoon session. What an experience, over 130 mph down the back and front stretches.
We had the honor of being the second group to drive the new course. The first was the F1 drivers.
I have a short post on this over in the Off Topic section.

Damn Clyde...I am so jealous!!! Have a friend at work here, that got an offer in the mail for this event. He drives a Lexus, so I guess they wanted to wooh him over to the CTS. He offered it to me, but it was registered to his name specifically, or I'd have been there with ya'.
So how did the V feel compared to your Z06? Is (Was?) your Caddy a CTS?

Hey, George. Yea, it was great just to be on the track not matter what I was driving. The CTS-V definitely doesn't feel as quick as my Z06 although the 0-60 time is about the same. On paper, the sedan & coupe are supposed to be the same, but the coupe did feel a little quicker & more nimble. Of course, that's just seat of the pants talking.
Yea, we have a 2008 CTS & I'm assuming that's why I got the e-mail invite.
