I'm in DFW as well. Basically, you go get your inspection and get a piece of paper saying you passed. You then go to the court house for your registration and they give you 1 sticker that represents both registration and inspection.

Sadly our wonderful legislature can pass a bill to reduce the number of windshield stickers claiming it will save money and paperwork (doubtful), but can't see fit to eliminate the front license plate.

Haha agreed... I don't run a front plate. Only a matter of time before I'm pulled over for it I guess. I pass cops often though and they don't seem to care

I've never had to go to a courthouse for a registration.

The local HEB has always taken the registration form and my money and given me the sticker. Looks like now I'll have to bring the Inspection form into the HEB also?

You're correct. It should be in the system electronically so theoretically you won't need the paper. I'm worried because I have no emissions equipment (cats, AIR system, have a big cam, etc)

I was under the impression it was the same inspection as before. Now instead of a sticker we get 'cleared' to buy tags. Am I mistaken?

I actually more worried about my tinted windows being too dark.

Same process as before, but I'm worried the way I get my inspection currently won't work for the new system as I'm in an emissions county. My windows are too dark as well, but just roll your windows down and pull the fuse and say they don't work

San Antonio doesn't have emissions testing. Yet.

The inspections don't change. Did you move or something?

Nope. Just saying car won't pass emissions because I don't have cats and the cam is pretty big. Not sure if the way I get it inspected currently (will not say how on the forums) will still work haha

It should still work. I had the same problem with my Camaro. It always "passed". You should still receive the certificate to show and get the registration sticker. We will see for sure when it starts in March. We were all worried when the OBD testing started and it worked out fine. I had more problems with window tint and tinted tail lights than the cam and headers.

All my toys pass but I hear you on the window business.

I got a written warning once when I ventured too close to A&M but nothing from local or highway DPS.

Precinct 4 is monitoring Cypress-Rosehill sporadically and issued two citations for blackout lenses but no mention of the missing front plate.

I have the same basic issue with my truck. I just renewed my tags and my sticker is up in march. You Must ahve your inspection no more than 3 months before you get your tags I'm trying to get an answer as to if the first go round they extend the sticker time for my inspection or if I need to get an inspection when I expire then another one within the 3 month window.

The last two times I renewed my registration stickers at the county clerk's office, I renewed them for 23 months each. It was slightly cheaper because I only had to pay the road tax once. Not sure how or if that will change with the new renewal approach, but at least you know it can be done now.
