Default Texas Mile - March 27-29, 2015

Registration opens at 12:00pm CST.
https://www.texasmile.net/registration.php

It usually sells out pretty quick, I missed the October 2014 deadline when I tried to register at 3pm.

I'm going to sign up for Friday this year because I hear the lines are shorter. I only got 4 runs over two days when I did it in October 2013.

It's a blast even to come and watch, there are some pretty amazing cars and bikes there.

Got my spot as well. Anybody know of any good places to learn the ropes? This will be my first time doing anything like this, so I'm trying to make sure I have all my ducks in a row.

Nice! How did the CTS-V do in October?

I went to a test and tune at the drag strip. Went super early and basically hot-lapped to get used to the feeling of launching and hitting proper shift points. In my car that got me the off the line and 1st-4th shifting technique, I still suck at jumping into 5th at speed, such a clunky gear.

Is the off the line a major part of it? I'd assume that a drag style, hard launch wouldn't be as advantageous as you're going for speed and not time.

What about prep for the car? The tech sheet stuff is obvious, but should I be looking to run higher/lower tire pressure than normal? Will factory belts really be sufficient or should I go with a harness bar and a 5/6 way? Any tricks to get a few more mph out of a bone stock C6 with Z51?

I ran the CTS-V in March last year, 184.7mph.

The off the line importance isn't that big of a deal, compared with drag racing, but ever foot you're going slower than you can is less speed you'll have at the end. I don't know how true this is, but some guys say allowing more spin off the line will yield a higher trap.

You'll be fine with factory belts. I dunno about the tire pressures, I'm really a novice.
