Default Best place to sell a used car?

I'm thinking of selling my GS to a dealer because it seems to be a bit frustrating trying to do a private party sell. Where in the Houston area is the best place to go to get top-dollar for your car? I already stopped by CarMax and received a very insulting offer. I'm thinking of trying the Mom & Pop smaller used car dealers who mainly make the bulk of their profits on the financing aspect. Thanks in advance, I will welcome any suggestions. BTW, my 2010 GS is posted for sale in the C6 section if anyone is interested.

One of the things you might want to consider is selling the car on consignment from a dealer's lot. Basically, you and the dealer agree on an asking price and a fee that the dealer will get from selling your car. He then puts your car on his lot with the rest of his cars. You keep the title until the car sells. I've done this a few times with a friend through his dealership over in Dallas.

You still don't get as much as you really want for the car, but then you also don't have to deal with the looky-loos and other time wasters. My experience has been that it usually takes 45 to 60 days to get the car sold this way.

I don't have a clue where you would go to do this in Houston. Maybe Corvette World?

Good luck with your sale.

Selling it on your own will yield you more money than using a dealer... Then again, you will not have to deal with tire kickers wasting your time if you use a dealer..

You could try AutoNation, they claims to give Kelly Blue Book trade-in prices for your car.

I just bought a 2014 C7 from gulf freeway auto sales in dickinson next to GAY. They gave me a great trade in price on my 2008 C6. It would't have been as great without the tax savings, but still good. My understanding is that they do buy cars outright. The have a few vettes on the lot.

I have a few guys that I work with that use autotrader & craigslist; they fly over to take a look at the car and then drive it back to Texas.

I ended up selling my GS to Texas Auto on Hwy3. They're not the same as Texas Auto Direct. CarMax was a complete waste of time, offered lower than auction prices.

Might be looking to do the same, I'll try the OP's choice and the usual suspects!

^ This!

I think I used Edmunds to value my car and received a certified offer from AutoNation. Went in on Monday and in less than 30 minutes had the car sold! Over 5k more than trade in value and more than what I was listing it for here on the forum.
