Talimena Fall Overnight Cruise Info
Talimena Fall Cruise is definitely still on unless there is a monsoon with flooding but very remote chance of that.
We will form up at the Lloyd Noble parking lot in Norman, south east corner, and get underway at ten o'clock this Saturday morning.
We'll head east on HY 9 through Tecumseh, staying straight east on HY 270 through Wewoka and Holdenville.
We'll stop at the corner gas station in Horntown at the T intersection even if we had to stop sooner for a bathroom break.
We'll be staying on HY 270 east to Calvin, Stuart, and through McAlester.
We'll have lunch in Krebs at one of the Italian places that we see that have parking for all of us, hopefully right after the lunch crowd.
After lunch, head back out on HY 270 E and in Hartshorne, get on HY 1 and 63 into Talihena.
We'll stop in Talihena for a short break and form up at the Mexican restaurant with the large parking lot on the way out of town for those that stopped downtown, then on to the Talimena Drive. Use the restroom in Talihena, very limited on the Talimena Drive, but there is a restroom/rest area where we exit at the midpoint.
We'll do half the Talimena Drive, then head through Heavener on HY 59 N, and on into Warehouse ****** in Poteau for dinner hopefully before the dinner crowd around or before five o'clock.
After dinner, check into the Holiday Inn Express for those staying overnight with an optional hang out and relax in the lobby. Might be a good time to gas up and get refreshments before retiring for the evening.
Sunday morning, after breakfast on your own at the hotel and checking out, we'll get underway at ten o'clock unless everyone is ready before ten.
We'll head south through Poteau and Heavener again on HY 59, get back on the Talimena Drive at the midpoint and head east to the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge for lunch.
After lunch, we'll leisurely head back west on the 54-mile Talimena Drive. It is a little over 200 miles from the Queen Wilhelmina back to OKC. We'll be stopping often at the various historic and overlook pull-over parking areas we may have drove past the day before.
We'll head west, through Talihena, back to HY 270 the way we came in. Folks tend to split up along the return trip on HY 9 or to I-40 depending on where they live. We should be home before sunset Sunday night.
Should be a group of about a dozen Vettes. Two couples are going but can't stay overnight, not a problem, and everyone being more than welcome.
Bring something warm to layer on, could be windy and chilly at the higher elevations.
Suggestions, questions, comments, please e-mail, text, or call.

Happy Thanksgiving
Thankful and very glad to be at home with family. No more away from home, Thanksgivings in the desert in a tent or on alert in a facility.

Love this warm weather, great for putting up the outdoor Christmas lights. The car is still apart doing some updates and cleaning but I do have a heated garage now so the work can continue through the cold weather.

I saw quite a few of my car friends today at Cars & Coffee. A little cool but not too bad, car count may have been a little bit down today maybe from all the ice storm damage clean up.

Have to work tomorrow. Thankful for the opportunity. Don't have to clean the ride, haven't driven it in a long while.
