Default Brazos River CC track day April 30 MSR Cresson TX

EDIT ON APRIL 26

THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF MINIMUM NUMBER OF ENTRIES

On Saturday April 30, Brazos River Corvette Club will again host a high performance driver education event at MotorSport Ranch in Cresson.

This half-day event is not a race but rather an opportunity for you to drive more aggressively in a safe environment and to see how well your Corvette handles the track.

This event is designed for novices and less experienced track drivers using their daily driver cars rather than for highly experienced drivers and race prepared cars. This event is open to non-Corvettes as well, but no SUVs or high center of gravity vehicles will be allowed.

If it rains on Saturday, we will hold the event the next day, Sunday May 1.

The entry fee is $120 and entrants will be limited to 25 drivers.

Entry via mail only, go here for entry form:http://www.brazosrivercc.com/PDF/trkday_reg.pdf

You will attend three classroom sessions designed to educate you on the dos-and-don’ts while on track, and to provide you with helpful driving hints to make your experience more enjoyable.

You will drive on-track in two lead-and-follow, no passing, low key track sessions that will help you learn the track. During these sessions, family and friends may be passengers.

You will have two track driving sessions to go as fast as you feel comfortable. Drivers will be divided into two groups based upon track driving experience level. Passing will be allowed, but only on straightaways and only with the slower car giving a “pass me here” signal.

Schedule and format:

• arrive NLT 12:30 after having eaten a light lunch
• empty and prepare your car as needed
• sign mandatory insurance waivers
• classroom orientation session at 2:00
• lead and follow track session, no passing, passengers allowed
• another classroom orientation and discussion session
• second lead and follow track session at faster speed, no passing, passengers allowed
• drivers split into two groups based on experience level
• each group gets two track sessions with passing allowed on straights with a signal from the slower car

Other than bringing a helmet (open face preferred, rentals available) and wearing long pants and closed toe shoes, no special “race only” equipment or preparation is needed. If you feel safe driving on the highway to reach the event, your car is track ready for this event.

However, some common sense vehicle preparation is strongly recommended:

• Any normal daily driving problems with the car should be repaired prior to the event.
• Coolant is less than 5 years old and up to the recommended level.
• Wheels are properly torqued to factory recommendations.
• Tires are properly inflated and have no cord showing anywhere.
• Oil is at the recommended level. Non-dry sump cars should overfill per Chevrolet recommendations.
• Brake fluid is reasonably fresh (less than 5 years old) and up to the recommended level.
• Brake pads have at least one-third of their life remaining.

But most importantly, prepare to have fun. This is not a race but will be a great opportunity to have fun in your Corvette and then to tell tales of your driving prowess.

Please PM or email or call Neal (817-975-fourteen twenty two) with any specific questions.

The BRCC track day at MSR scheduled for Saturday April 30 is in jeopardy.

MSR requires a minimum number of participants to make the event possible and we are at 60% of that minimum as of today.

If you have been meaning to enter but haven’t gotten around to it, then do so immediately.

Non-Corvette performance vehicles may enter, but no high center of gravity vehicles like pickups or SUVs.

Unless sufficient applications are received by next Monday via USPS or PM/email to me, the event will be cancelled.

A go-no go decision will be made next Monday April 25.

If cancelled, a full refund will be made to existing entrants.

Sounds fun but the TMS event is that weekend. I will look forward to the next event!

I'd come out and play but racing at MSR Houston SCCA Majors that weekend.

thanks but I'm pretty sure this event wouldn't be your favorite

two lead-follows and two open sessions with almost all newbies

event is really geared toward people who don't track but want to dip their toe into the water and see what is it all about

I came out a few years ago, brought my Dad in his SL550 Roadster, my wife in her GS and then I drove my Z06 - all had fun!

Sorry, we fell 5 short of minimum number needed and have cancelled.

I'll save your PM info and let you know next year in case you are interested then.
