Exhaust shop, austin area
Looking for good exhaust shop near Georgetown Texas , 30 miles north of Austin, to straighten out the mess a local shop did on 89

Welded is the better option as far as leaks etc. If there's enough play in it to cause vibration/rattle then hopefully you can get it straightened out with just a few hangers. I'm not familiar with the C4, but my biggest concern would be if you needed to get at the rear end, drivetrain, etc in the future how much of a pita it's going to be to drop/pull the welded exhaust.

They shouldn't be too far away, I'd see if they can assess the situation for you. No point throwing good money after bad. I would ask/find out the following:
1) Is having the catback welded up to the y-pipe going to make life difficult everytime you need to drop/pull the exhaust.
2) If the answer to the above is no, then is there enough play in it to straighten out and kill the rattle with just bolting in some custom hangers.
3) If the answer to the above is yes, then I'd just take it to a competent muffler/exhaust shop and have them do it.
