Parts Scam, Buyers Beware!

Parts Scam, Buyers Beware!
Fellow Corvette Forum Members, I posted a thread looking for an original 1963 Corvette Jack Compartment Board. I had a person from Texas answer my thread indicating that he had an original one for sale. I asked him to send me pictures of it, front and back. He did so and it appeared to be original as stated. However, to my own stupidity I sent him the money via a money gram. Once he received the funds I never heard from him again or received the jack board. He said his name was "Jacob Torres" Fort Stockton, Texas 79735. If anyone else is contacted by him regarding any corvette parts please beware! Don't make the mistake I did. I have been a member for a while and have never had this happen before. I learned a valuable lesson. I hope this helps others on the Corvette Forum. Best Regards to all. Chuck

Were they a brand new member? I'm usually a little weary when a brand new member joins the forum to sell something. (nothing against new members).

If I were you, I'd contact his local police dept (google it) and let them know what's going on. Also contact the postal inspectors because the US mail was used to perpetuate the fraud. Contact the Texas State Attorney Generals Office (internet fraud division if they have one) and finally the US Dept of Justice, internet fraud division. One of these (maybe all) could possibly help you,

Don't use Moneygram! The minute someone says this is how to pay them run....... Use paypal and a credit card and you will get your money back. I know I have!

I agree 100%. Make sure that you have the CORRECT Paypal email address. I misspelled the Paypal email address by 1 letter and the funds were sent to the wrong person. What a nightmare getting my money back. Eventually my credit card company did get my funds back and the money was sent to the correct person. Seller and buyer are happy now.
