Default Michelin Pilot Super Sport 17"/18" going on my 00' C5 next week

The plan is to get these tires on my 00' vert that is pretty much stock at stock ride height and on OEM polished wheels. The tire sizes are;

245/40ZR17 & 285/35ZR18

These are as close to OEM sizes/rake and should work fine.

I will post up how they work and of course pics as well

I am also going to Michelin’s first Influencer Tire School this month!

They are very excited about the launch of the new following tires:

MICHELIN Defender tire
BFGoodrich g-force Sport Comp-2 tire (April replace the KDW2???)

Michelin’s goal is to familiarize us with their company and to meet some of the people who work behind the scenes to create the Michelin and BFGoodrich tire products
What (School Highlights):
• “Talking About Tires” seminar
• Tire manufacturing plant tour
• Behind the wheel tire testing at BMW Performance Center

I will report back and have some pics as well

Your tires are going to lower your car ~11mm and lower weight ~26 pounds of rotating sprung weight while giving quicker acceleration.

Can’t argue with that!

One question, in your opinion, which would give better traction, increasing or decreasing tread width keeping everything else the same? Why?

Tire compound is key..........I have been testing for years with my 97'
C5 Vette. Many of my prior threads have show it. A 275/40/17 dr gets
a better 60' 1.47 vs a 345/30 18 with a 1.49...weight and rolling resistence
Here they are installed:

Note, prior owner did the wheel scrapes........they stick like glue and none of the 4 wheels needed any weight!
for the first ~100 miles they will kick up rocks like an R compound
I tested after and it was all

but I said keeping all else equal

I’d be more interested in stopping distance than 60’ times

The interesting thing is the Super Sport tires have a wider tread width than the SuperCars that are OEM on a C6 while being less in sectional width. The tire sizes I am thinking about getting will have more tread width than OEM, and I’ll lose 22 pounds total. Imagine the big bucks people have spent on carbon fiber to lose that much.

lesser of a bonus, but still important, car will sit almost 4mm lower and gearing will be 1% quicker

Well...............tire are not created equal
Stopping is very firm, stable, repeatable and predictable wet or dry with these. They stop shorter for sure......

Just commented on another PSS thread, but I'm so impressed with these tires that I wanted to bump this thread as well.
Anyone thinking of buying street tires these are it. Just in case a potential buyer is wondering, My Z is cammed, geared and the stock heads have been reworked. Full bolt ons are on as well.
