The previous owner lowered my C4, and I am wanting to purchase a set of ZR1 17x9.5 wheels for my C4, but I'm concerned about fitting 275/40s in the front. The car currently has 275/40s in the back with 235/45s in the front. I wanted to only buy two additional 275/40s and keep the same size tires all of the way around, but the guys at the tire shop are concerned about rubbing, and they didn't even want to try the rears on the front for fear of damaging anything. Is my car too low for bigger tires? Center of the front fender to the ground measures 25.75". Thanks for any input.

As long as you buy the correct offset wheels (17" x 9.5" +56mm offset) I can't see why you would not be able to run 275/40s front and rear even though the car is lowered.
My '85 might be a little lower than your car and I'm running the 17x9.5s with 275/40s all the way around with no issues (in fact I want to go wider).

There are 2 different offsets for C4's, 84-87 requires different than 88-up make sure to buy the right ones.

I run a 275/35/18 on the front of my lowered corvette. No problems... I run 335's on the back!
