Help identifying OEM vs Replica C5Z Alcoa
Hi everyone,
I've been searching around the forums and net a lot trying to identify if a particular wheel I'm looking at in a full set is OEM or a replica (maybe 1 wheel had to be replaced at some point?).
The wheels I'm looking at are from a 2001 Z06. Owner is not the first and doesn't know the history but believes all 4 are OEM. All 4 wheels look like the proper/complete set however one of the rears has different markings on the spokes than the others (see pictures below).
All of the wheels have the "sharp" edges that Alcoa's are supposed to. All of the wheels have the "smooth" back side (not the indentations that the Speedlines have). 3 of the 4 wheels have the part numbers and GM etched/laser engraved/dotted into them like I believe Alcoa's should (see this pic). The 1 wheel in question though, has the numbers etched/engraved in and the numbers are irregular - as if they were each etched in separately (see pics below).
Based on my research, the markings are the right numbers/letters however the seller could not locate the "GM" or "Alcoa" marking which I was expecting on this 1 wheel - maybe the wheel is too dirty or...??
The markings the seller could identify were:
1. 9593805
2. USA RG G138
3. 18x10.5 J58
Would an aftermarket replica have the markings listed above?

You may have already thought of this but I'll toss it out there. Most reproductions weigh more than EOM so perhaps one option to consider would be to ask the seller to weigh the corresponding known good one and weigh the suspect one and see if they match up or not. If suspect wheel is a couple/few pounds heavier then it may be a reproduction wheel. I know that isn't foolproof, but would give you one more piece of data to make your decision.
I hope it works out for you.
