Default Trying to understand wheel tire combination

I am looking to purchase some new wheels for my '07 C6. Stock wheels are 18x8.5 and 19x10. One of the choices of wheels are only In 18x9.5 and 19x11. So about 1 inch wider front and rear. I believe it is recommended to at least run 265x36'and 305x30 respectively on a wheel this size. Everything I look at says that these are about .5" shorter. Which should be ok. But I am just wondering if it is recommended to go actually slightly wider say. 275x35 and 325x30' or,is that a waste on a non wide body?

If 265x35'and 305x30 are correct I think I will go with the Michelin pilot super sports. But again am open for ideas as this is my DD and I use it rain or shine to about 18k a year.

If I choose standard size wheels I'll just put on stock sizes

Thanks for any insight.
