BFGoodrich g-Force Rival-S
As the internet forum rumor mill has been well aware, BFGoodrich has been working on a second version of the g-Force Rival, currently known as the g-Force Rival-S. BFG hasn't officially announced the new tire to the world, but it’s existence has been discussed since just after the Tire Rack SCCA Solo Nationals last fall.
As we wait for the official announcement on the Rival-S, Tire Rack has ben given a preliminary list of sizes planned for production. Time will tell if all are produced, but we have no reason to think they won’t. As of today we don’t have any availability info, but we expect the Rival-S to make the April 30th SCCA Solo eligibility deadline. We can accept pre-orders via the phone, and our web site will show the tire once we have more concrete availability information closer to the launch date. Details and rumors about what change Rival-S brings to the table are sketchy, but we expect it will be similar to the difference between g-Force R1 and R1-S, with the S = Sprint which yields quicker run/lap times but, shorter tread life
G-Force Rival-S Preliminary Size List
P205/50R15 86W
P225/45R15 87W
P215/45R16 86W
P225/45R17 91W
P245/40R17 91W
P255/40R17 94W
P245/40R18 93W
P275/35R18 95W
P315/30R18 98W
P335/30R18 102W
The Rival-S is a separate tire from the current g-Force Rival which will continue to be available in its current form and size range. Some sizes of the original g-Force Rival are currently out of stock, and we are waiting on word from BFG when they will be available again. As of today, a best “guess” is late March or early April at the earliest.
Once we get more official information we’ll pass it along.

Don't mean to hijack, but is there any information on the new Kumho?

Really bummed that BFG (and most of the other guys making the "hot" street tires" seem to have no interested in producing any wide 17" sizes. Just about all of them seem to stop their 17" tires at a 255 width. At least Toyo is putting out a 274/40-17 in the R1R.
